Earnest Stewart is looking forward to working together: “A true team player”

With Sven Mijnans, PSV has already secured the first summer signing for the 2026/2027 season. Mijnans has arrived from AZ for thirteen million euros and has signed a contract until 2031.

Technical director Earnest Stewart is, in any case, looking forward to the cooperation between PSV and the midfielder. This is what Stewart says in an interview with PSV TV after completing the transfer.

''Very nice. What is in the barrel will not turn sour. Last year we were also working with Sven and, unfortunately, that did not lead to a deal at the time. He has still gone through a great development at AZ and then it comes a year later. It's very nice that he is now associated with PSV'', the American says.

After that, the TD goes into why Mijnans would be a perfect fit for PSV. ''Well, Sven is a very football-intelligent player, who has developed commendably at all the clubs where he has played. If you talk to him, then you hear that he is very active in how he can improve himself'', Stewart continues.

Also the fact that the midfielder has shared his ambitions with PSV does the American a lot of good. ''And he has indicated to Peter Bosz and to me that he very much wants to win trophies. Where better than at PSV, where we are all pursuing trophies together. He is someone who can bring a great deal of calm to our game, with solutions he sees on the pitch. A pure team player and he has also already shown himself when it comes to scoring goals and providing assists'', the TD concludes.
