Bosz walks out during interview | NOS: 'Bosz does not close the door on national team coaching'

1 min read

A slightly irritated Peter Bosz left on Saturday afternoon during a NOS interview after the interviewer refused to stop asking questions about the head coach position of the Netherlands national team.

After the interviewer said he was going to start asking questions about the new season, Bosz changed his mind and walked back to his position. The scene played out with a smile on Bosz’s face, but the irritation was nevertheless clearly visible on his face.

The conversation started right away awkwardly because Bosz was asked whether he could get behind the tactical approach of the Netherlands national team against Morocco, given that there are '18 million association coaches' in the Netherlands. "I think you should ask those other 17,999,999. Not me", Bosz replied respectfully to Ronald Koeman.

After the World Cup exit, Koeman announced his departure and the name of Bosz is mentioned as a possible successor. What does he think of that discussion? "I don't think that's anything", he responds. "I'm happy that I started here again at PSV. I'm fully focused on that here, and that's exactly what I want to do."

After that, Bosz is asked whether the door for Oranje is then definitively closed. "No, then you’re not listening properly to what I said. I’m not going to get involved in that discussion, because it has absolutely no point. I’m not a party to it; I started here wonderfully at PSV and I’m having a great time here. So that’s fine. So you shouldn’t ask me questions like that", Bosz said.

However, the NOS interviewer paid no attention to Bosz’s response and went on: "Have you already been approached by the KNVB?", the question was asked, after which Bosz really did push back and said: "He’s going through. I just said: you shouldn’t bring those kinds of questions to me. So it has absolutely no point to ask me that kind of question."

When the reporter then points out that Bosz still has a contract running with PSV until mid-2028, the coach from Apeldoorn heads off, to quickly return after a comment about the new season. "I just wanted to carry on about the season at PSV", it sounds. Bosz responded: If you carry on about the Netherlands national team... I’m not interested. Then I walk away", Bosz concludes his view of the whole thing. For NOS, however, the entire interview proved to be reason enough to post on the website of the public broadcaster that Peter Bosz is not closing the door to taking up the role of national team coach.

The article calling out the wing rotation makes sense. We do look most dangerous when the wingers swap lanes, but it only works if the fullbacks hold their defensive shape.

I liked how the article mentions the wing rotations, but i still think the striker has to be sharper in the box. Too many times he drops outside and we end up recycling instead of attacking the near post. Should be more ruthless, especially at home.

tbh the defence looked shaky when the fullbacks got pulled high. Ngl, i want more cover behind the back line, otherwise teams will target the space between DM and CB. Fix that and we look 10x more solid.

🔥🔥 get the pressing right and we win this. If we let their first pass happen, it turns into 90 minutes of chasing.

🔥🔥🔥 This is the kind of intensity i want from PSV, press triggers were on point. If we keep winning second balls, our transitions will look scary all season.

Wijnaldum being mentioned as the engine tbh... but i still want more direct runs. Right now it feels too safe in possession, and teams will just sit in the half-spaces.

If PSV start building from the back again, i swear Schouten has to be the calm outlet. Midfield can't be empty when the fullbacks push up, otherwise you get punished fast.

"PSV are still searching for the perfect balance" is kinda true tbh. We either go too slow and invite pressure, or we go direct and lose midfield control. Need one midfielder to slow it down without killing tempo.

If PSV keep playing like this in possession, Saibari better get more touches on the half-turn. I feel like the build-up is there, just need quicker final balls into the channel. Wingers look dangerous though, so it could click.
