Arbiter for PSV’s final league match known

1 min read

Next Sunday marks yet another—and the final—regular-season round of the Eredivisie. PSV will play at home at 2:30 PM against third-placed FC Twente, and for the Twente team this match is of great importance in the race for a Champions League qualifying spot.

The KNVB has appointed referee Jeroen Manschot to oversee the match against FC Twente. Peter Bosz's side could play a crucial role on Sunday in the battle for third place.

With a win against the team of John van den Brom, NEC and possibly even Ajax at the last moment can still become third. Also, with a win PSV can become champions with the largest points lead over the number 2.

I like the confidence, but I want to see more end product from the wide areas. Crossing is fine, but we need more cutbacks and direct chances.

I like the mention of the Dutch core, it feels like the team has more identity again. With the right tempo, PSV can control matches at home, and that front line looks dangerous if the service is clean.

That quote about going for the second phase after winning the ball is spot on. PSV fans know it, but it is rare to see it explained properly like that.

Key thing for me is how the tempo changes after winning the ball. The quick outlet balls were really making the difference.

Thought the article nailed it about the wing play. When PSV stretch the pitch, you can feel chances coming.

I'm not fully convinced by the defensive setup yet. We still look a bit open when the ball gets turned quickly in transition.

If PSV keep building like that, it's going to be tough for anyone in the league. The pressing looked sharp, especially in midfield.

Not convinced by the defensive transitions though. When PSV lose the ball in midfield, it feels like there's a gap for the quick counter to exploit, and that will cost them against better sides.

I liked how the article mentions the build-up more than the highlights. PSV look at their best when the fullbacks are brave, and the timings into the half-spaces are sharp.

The midfield balance has been the real story for PSV. If they keep controlling those central zones, the wide guys can actually hurt teams instead of just running around.

Still not convinced about the balance. When the fullbacks jump forward, it feels like there is a gap behind them, and you can see that if the opponent counters straight away. Would love to see more cover in midfield.

If PSV really trust the press with this lineup, I get why Schmidt is excited. The way they win the ball higher up can flip games fast, especially against teams that want to play out from the back.
