Analyst Ziggo Sport happy: "He has a very good sense of timing"
1 min readAfter weeks and perhaps even months of uncertainty, Guus Til knows that after a strong season at PSV he may now prepare himself to join Oranje for the 2026 World Cup in North America. On Wednesday afternoon, head coach Ronald Koeman announced his squad, and Til was the only PSV player selected.
According to Ziggo Sport analyst Theo Janssen, the call for the attacking midfielder is more than justified. Last Monday, Janssen argued on Rondo on Ziggo Sport in favor of a call-up for Til to the World Cup squad, and in the end the national team coach decided to take the PSV player along.
''Til is a typical number ten who is always on the move, like Klaassen in his good period. We have very few players with running actions,'' said Janssen last Monday on Rondo, among other things about the attacking midfielder
Even ahead of the Conference League final Crystal Palace - Rayo Vallecano (1-0), the Oranje squad was discussed and Guus Til also came up again. ''Guus Til has a weapon. He has a very good sense of timing. When should I go deep? When should I come for the goal?'', Janssen said about it.

In addition, the former footballer from, among others, Vitesse and FC Twente believes that Til could also form a good duo with Memphis Depay. ''If you then play with Memphis, who plays a lot on the ball, it’s nice to have a guy in reserve who can make those runs into depth. But I also don’t expect him to start him in the starting lineup,'' the analyst concludes.

"Set pieces will decide it" i can agree with that. PSV have been dangerous when timing is right, but defending the first phase still needs focus or it gets ugly fast. 💯
For me the key is whether the defensive line stays compact when the winger tucks in. If we keep that spacing, we can dominate even if possession turns a little scrappy. ⚽
"PSV draait het tempo omhoog als de flank vrij is" klopt wel, maar dat is precies de reden dat je ook kwetsbaar bent op de counter. i mean, zet Guardado of Zahavi (whatever) dan niet te hoog en laat Sangare dat gat vullen. 💀
"PSV have to be brave in possession" ok sure, but bravery without a plan is just inviting pressure. If the fullbacks dont pin their wingers, we will lose all the space. 🤡
"pressing triggers" sounds good, but the timing needs work. When we press late, we invite pressure back and it gets messy fast 💀
Eens. When the wingers cut inside, Sangare and Til actually get on the ball sooner, and PSV start to look like PSV 👏
I like the idea of using the wide channels more, but it has to come with faster overlaps. Otherwise opponents just sit in and we drag the attack too long. Still, the intent is good. ⚽
Ref said play on a bit too much for my liking. But still, the press won us the second ball and that is what i want to see. Vamos PSV! 👏
Maximillian Wober was solid at the back, but imo the real issue was the transition from 6 to 8. We got stretched a few times, couldnt control the middle after the turnover.
"PSV are building momentum" lol yeah but momentum means nothing if our finishing stays mid. We need more composure in the box, not just more shots. 💀
I dont fully buy the midfield setup. Without a real link player between the lines, it becomes too predictable, pass wide then cross, cross, cross.
Bro if that quote about pressing is true, then why do we slow down after winning it? Feels like we lose the second ball too often. 🤡
The midfield spacing was off for me, especially when the fullbacks jump high. We need better cover, otherwise it turns into a counter fest.
The big question for me is the midfield balance. If Veerman is too far from the 6, we will get outnumbered in build-up and it turns into damage control. Tbh i want more control there. 🔥
Gakpo moving inside again is gonna make the whole system tick. If we get the ball to him quickly, our pressing looks way more dangerous. 🔥
If we keep playing like this, Luuk de Jong is gonna look like a cheat code in the box. Those quick lay-offs for the runners were nasty 🔥
