The Netherlands national team has not started the 2026 World Cup all that strongly after a 2-2 draw against Japan and on Saturday evening Oranje plays their second group match against Sweden. The Scandinavians won their first group match 5-1 against Tunisia and will therefore face the Netherlands as group F leaders.

Nevertheless, according to most experts, the Netherlands national team still has the role of favorites for winning the group. In that case, the Netherlands could advance to the next round to face Brazil, Morocco or Scotland.

Wim Kieft, former PSV striker, believes that Koeman's team against Brazil has the best chances of advancing to the next round. ''We are a bit in trouble, you know. The Netherlands is on a tough side. If you finish third, you get France. Those are semifinals,'' the former striker says in the podcast KieftJansenEgmondGijp.

After that, Kieft is convinced that the South Americans can be beaten. ''If the Netherlands continues, it has the best chance against Brazil. They can be beaten. Brazil is still just a name. As for football, over the last ten years it hasn't really lived up to expectations,'' the former international says, full of confidence.

According to Kieft, Brazil no longer has major stars like it did in the past. ''What I’m trying to say: the Brazil of 1994, 1998 and 2002, with Rivaldo, Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos, they don’t have that level anymore. I actually want to continue staying with Valentijn Driessen, but I’m now thinking whether I’m not cutting myself in the fingers.
