Bosz still a candidate for national team coach? “These names have now themselves insinuated that they’re available.”
1 min readAccording to Valentijn Driessen, the chance is fairly high that national team coach Ronald Koeman will step down after the World Cup with the Netherlands national team. Driessen says this in the Kick-off podcast by De Telegraaf, and the journalist believes to know which four candidates have the best chance as Koeman’s successor.
In the NOS program WK Avond, Erik ten Hag showed on Thursday evening that he is open to a possible role as head coach of the Netherlands national team. Driessen has his own opinion about that.
''Everyone wants to show that they are still available. Bosz has suddenly also dropped a slight opening for the Netherlands national team again. Arne Slot is available and Michael Reiziger has already been working at the KNVB'', the journalist says in the podcast.
Despite the fact that Peter Bosz last February still extended his contract until mid-2028, Driessen nevertheless thinks the PSV coach is hoping for a call from the KNVB, and the journalist also believes that the football association could potentially contact all four names. ''If Koeman stops after this tournament, and I assume that he will, then one of those four will become national team coach of Oranje'', Driessen says with certainty.
Mike Verweij’s team thinks that there might be more behind the fact that these coaches are still keeping the door open. ''These names have now themselves, in a veiled way, said that they are available. That may mean that in the coaching world it is going around that Koeman will simply stop'', according to Verweij.
Verweij also thinks that Koeman will step down as national team coach after the World Cup, partly because of his wife's health. ''That Ten Hag says this now, Bosz makes room, Slot is available and now names are being sung about... I think everyone is convinced that Koeman is up to his last trick'', the journalist concludes.

"Koeman aan zijn laatste kunstje bezig is" lol, maar als dat waar is, dan zie ik Bosz echt wel dromen van Oranje. Alleen hopelijk vergeet de KNVB dat PSV ook gewoon een club is met een plan. 👀⚽
Tbh ik geloof die "één van die vier wordt bondscoach" theorie maar half. Als Koeman stopt door die situatie met zijn echtgenote, dan is het logischer dat ze snel en pragmatisch kiezen, niet op basis van wie het hardst zichzelf beschikbaar zet. Bosz wil wel, maar PSV heeft hem juist nodig.
Erik ten Hag die zegt open te staan en dan Mike Verweij die zegt dat het trainerswereldje al rondgaat dat Koeman stopt... oké, maar wij zitten straks met de brokjes. Bosz contract loopt, maar ieders wens is de deur voor de KNVB. Kan er niemand gewoon een paar maanden normaal doen? 😂
Bosz opening laten vallen klinkt eerlijk gezegd als PSV er gewoon tussenin knijpen. Als KNVB belt ga je het toch altijd horen, maar contract tot 2028 maakt het ook meteen tricky. Tbh ik hoop dat ze hem laten knokken in Eindhoven.
"Iedereen wil laten blijken dat ze toch beschikbaar zijn." Eerlijk, dat is zo. Maar als Ten Hag openstaat en Slot ook, dan moet Bosz echt oppassen dat hij niet een tussenstap wordt. Ik wil hem bij PSV, liefst ook volgend seizoen doordrukken.
Bosz weer "lichte opening" en iedereen doet plots alsof ze beschikbaar zijn, tbh dat ruikt naar lobby. Als de KNVB belt is het natuurlijk sportief spannend, maar PSV heeft niet voor niks gekozen voor Bosz tot 2028.
