“Fixed guests Today Inside” takes a swipe at former PSV player: “Then you’d better keep your mouth shut, indeed.”
1 min readIt will have escaped almost no one in the Netherlands that national team coach Ronald Koeman, during the first World Cup match of the Netherlands national team, used substitutions that raised questions among many fans. For example, Donyell Malen was among those replaced by Memphis Depay, and Nathan Aké came on for Ryan Gravenberch.
Ultimately, Oranje got the lid put on its nose in the 88th minute as Japan came alongside (2-2) and the Netherlands national team, in a sense, got off to a poor start at the World Cup in North America. At the press conference ahead of the match Netherlands - Sweden, former PSV player Cody Gakpo said he agreed with the substitutions made by the national coach.
This leads to amazement at the table of Vandaag Inside Oranje. In particular, Johan Derksen and René van der Gijp understand nothing of the words that Gakpo spoke to the media.
''I always like it when footballers are solidary with the coach. This morning I read an interview with Cody Gakpo and it wasn't worth the trouble. I wouldn't look it up again either. He says then: 'As a squad, we were wholeheartedly in agreement with the coach's substitutions', and I think: yes...'', says Derksen.

Also René van der Gijp is of the opinion that the winger would have done better to say nothing about the substitutions. ''Then you’d better keep your mouth shut,'' said Van der Gijp, after which Derksen reacts even more fiercely. ''Then you’d better indeed keep your mouth shut. Such a captain, who has never anything to say either, but then he can also say: 'We completely disagree with this.'''
After that, Gijp discusses the substitution of Arjen Robben by Dick Advocaat during the Euro 2004. ''That was also blamed on Advocaat in 2004 in Portugal. Then just keep your mouth shut. You can’t say that you strongly agree with this. You can’t'', the analyst said.

"PSV Inside" is nice but where is the plan to break low blocks? If they keep trying the same early crosses, teams will just sit and punish the turnovers 💀
Im not convinced by the lineup balance. If the fullbacks dont tuck in, Tillman/Bruma will get isolated and the wings get strangled. PSV need one midfielder who can win the second ball cleanly.
Bro the way they say the midfield controls the game, ok... but where is the pressing trigger? When opponents escape, it becomes endless sideways passes. 🤡⚽
If PSV keep starting like this, Zirkzee better not be the only one creating... Gravenberch needs to be braver in the build-up. Otherwise itll get too predictable fast.
If PSV are going with that high press again, i just hope it doesnt leave space for the counter. Veerman has to be braver on the ball, otherwise mid gets overrun every time 🔥
