Poor English-speaking coach lashes out at PSV legend: “I find him a very scary man”
1 min readAt the World Cup, former PSV coach Ruud van Nistelrooy serves as assistant national team coach to Ronald Koeman. In particular, Van Nistelrooy has been appointed as a striker coach and receives a great deal of praise for his role within the coaching staff of the Netherlands national team, both from the players’ group and from the national team coach.
Despite this, coach Pieter de Jongh, alias The Champ and known for his coal miners’ English, is not speaking well of the PSV legend. The Champ says this in the podcast All Sports Radio.
''I have nothing to do with Van Nistelrooij. I think he’s a very scary man. Really a scary man. I was invited to Netherlands - Ecuador. I watched the match, not as a fan but as a coach. Then I looked at the Netherlands staff. I have a lot of respect for Ronald Koeman. A fantastic guy'', De Jongh says in a jab at Van Nistelrooij in the podcast.
Where Van the Man therefore receives the necessary buckets of criticism from The Champ and even calls him a nobody. ''Ronald is someone who gives a lot of trust to his staff. Ronald was out along the touchline a lot during the Netherlands - Ecuador match. I’ve seen Van Nistelrooij fly off from the bench maybe forty times. Then I think: who are you? You were a decent striker, but as a coach you’re a nobody'', the coach is harsh in his assessment.

According to De Jongh, the former top striker has achieved nothing yet as a coach. ''At PSV, you haven’t done anything, and in England you were relegated with Leicester. Now you’ve been brought in as a striker coach with Oranje. Know your position,'' said The Champ.
The coach also has nothing to say about the fact that Van Nistelrooij missed part of the preparation in North America due to the celebration of his fiftieth birthday after approval from the national team coach. ''When I then hear that he turns 50 and is not there for one or two days... I would have sent him straight home. It just can’t. Laughable'', De Jongh concludes.

tbh if the article is right about the right-back being the key, then we should punish their left side every time. Last matches we were too predictable and it felt mid. PSV cant afford that again, we need fireworks. 🔥
"we can make it work without overthinking" sounds nice, but in reality you need a plan B when the wingbacks get pinned. I feel we look best when Luuk and Pepi stagger their runs so the ball can be played through the lines. ⚽
If PSV go with that press high again, im not sure the midfield can win the second balls. If Saibari and Tillman arent aggressive enough, itll get ugly in transition. 👀
