PSV watcher provides clarity regarding the stronghold: 'He can be picked up for twelve million'

Earlier this week, the magazine Voetbal International broke the news that Mauro Junior is set to trade PSV for Fenerbahçe SK. Last month, VI reported that FC Porto and Leeds United were interested in the versatile Brazilian.

Mauro has a buyout clause in his contract, which allows the midfielder, who is also a defender, to be picked up for a certain amount. The Brazilian himself would, however, be interested in a transfer.

PSV watcher Rik Elfrink from Eindhovens Dagblad knows exactly how the situation surrounding Mauro is structured. ''There is also a good deal going on around Mauro. He can be picked up for twelve million, which means that if a club wants him, can tempt him and pays those twelve million to PSV, then he is simply gone,'' Elfrink says in the podcast Heet van de Herdgang from the ED.

According to the journalist, there is also a fairly strong chance that next season the Brazilian will no longer be on display in PSV’s red and white. ''If Mauro Júnior says soon: Fenerbahçe pays me three times as much net as PSV can pay me, then it may be that he’s just gone. That possibility is just there, but there are still more clubs,'' the PSV watcher continues.

PSV wants to keep the Brazilian on board for as long as possible and therefore also wants to get an buyout clause out of Mauro's contract. ''The talks with PSV are currently on hold. They would prefer to keep him and remove that clause, but that hasn't been successful yet'', said Elfrink.
