1 min readIn August 2023, midfielder Isaac Babadi made his debut for PSV’s senior team under Peter Bosz. In the Champions League qualifying round, Babadi was important with a goal against Sturm Graz.
Despite this, the real breakthrough of the midfielder was delayed in part by the fierce competition in midfield. As a result, the club’s management decided to loan the 21-year-old talent to Royal Antwerp FC in Belgium.
In particular in the second half of the season, Babadi hardly got to play and as a result, this summer the midfielder returns to Eindhoven. Nonetheless, the talent is allowed to leave PSV and a definitive departure also seems likely.
According to Eindhovens Dagblad, there is interest from both within and outside the country in Babadi, and PSV would also like to think along with the sale of the midfielder. ''I would personally like to stay in the Netherlands, but I don't rule out other possibilities. In the Eredivisie, the vision of many coaches matches the things I’m good at. Many teams play 4-3-3 and build from the back. Moreover, I speak the language and I don't fall behind in that'', Babadi says to the ED.
Despite an upcoming departure, Babadi PSV will always wish them the very best. ''PSV and my competitors at the club, I have always wished them the best. That will remain the case. For me, it is simply important that I start playing matches on a regular basis again. Then you’ll see that it will be upward from here,'' said the midfielder.

Fijn dat hij aangeeft dat hij in Nederland wil blijven, maar ik geloof ook niet dat PSV hem zomaar zomaar laat gaan zonder plan. 4-3-3 en opbouwen van achteruit past wel bij zijn kwaliteiten, maar als hij vertrekt moeten we middenveld echt weer goed vullen. Anders krijg je opnieuw dat soort "talent met potentie, minuten met twijfel" verhalen.
"Ik zou zelf graag in Nederland willen blijven" oké, maar met Bosz in de buurt is het weer dezelfde strijd op het middenveld. 🔥 Als hij terugkomt en alsnog niet start, dan is dit vertrek een gedwongen keuze. Hoop alleen dat PSV er niet te weinig uithaalt, want Champions League goal vs Sturm Graz laat zien dat er kwaliteit zit.
Ik ben benieuwd waar hij precies landt. Hij zegt dat hij liever in Nederland blijft omdat hij 4-3-3 en opbouw van achteruit ziet zitten. Als een Eredivisie club hem meteen een vaste plek kan geven, dan wordt dit echt een upgrade voor z'n ontwikkeling, niet alleen een verhuizing.
"structureel wedstrijden ga spelen" is het enige dat telt, tbh. Bij Bosz/PSV kreeg Babadi net te weinig consistent ritme, dus verhuur was verstandiger dan hem op de bank laten staan. Ik ben vooral benieuwd wie hierna die rol in onze selectie pakt.
Babadi die wil "weer structureel wedstrijden ga spelen" en in België amper minuten pakt. Tbh snap ik het, bij PSV moet je knokken voor elke rol. Maar als PSV echt meedenkt met de verkoop, vind ik het slim, anders hou je alleen maar een talent in de wachtkamer.
Snap de logica wel, maar toch zonde dat hij bij ons geen echte doorbraak kreeg. Die concurrentie op het middenveld smoorde hem echt, dan is Antwerp logisch. Hopelijk krijgt hij nu snel minuten in Nederland, anders verliezen we weer een talent.
