A big compliment from Munich for PSV
1 min readIsmael Saibari is officially a player of FC Bayern München and that brings a lot of satisfaction in the South German city. Board member Max Eberl and sporting director Christoph Freund respond after both clubs have completed the million-euro deal.
PSV receives around 55 million euros including bonuses after Wednesday, July 1, became the official date of the deal worth millions. That has accounting reasons but that aside. “We are delighted that we have been able to secure Ismael Saibari, one of the most promising forwards at the World Cup,” Eberl says via the club channels of the South German millionaires’ club.
'Transfers like these do not just happen, but are the result of long-term planning: the key was that we made our intention clear to him early on, because we were aware of Ismael's qualities and could show him a clear future with us from the very beginning. Ismael Saibari will add extra quality and unpredictability to our attacking play.'
'Ismael Saibari has won the Dutch league title three times in a row with Eindhoven; he has Champions League experience and now shows how valuable he can be for a team at the World Cup, at the very highest level,' says executive Freund. 'He is versatile, intense and bold in his play; he has the hunger we want to see at Bayern, and his goalscoring record and mentality will give the team a boost. Fans are flocking to the stadium for players like him,' PSV is praised.
Saibari has also responded to the transfer from the United States. 'As a kid, you dream of signing a contract with a club like Bayern - everyone knows it's one of the biggest clubs in the world. Bayern competes every year for the biggest titles, such as the Champions League, and I want to win as many trophies as possible here. Bayern's style of play suits me, I can play my own kind of football here, and I will work hard every day to help the team. Coach Vincent Kompany has played an important role in my decision. I'm looking forward to working with him,' said Ismael Saibari from the United States.

Kompany die hem helpt beslissen, dat klinkt logisch. Saibari "kan hier mijn eigen voetbal spelen" klinkt heel Saibari-achtig, intens en gedurfd. Voor PSV blijft het natuurlijk zuur dat hij weg is, maar als hij daar prijzen pakt, dan weten we dat we hem goed ontwikkeld hebben. 🔥⚽
"Bayern strijdt elk jaar om de grootste titels", ja bruh, dat weten we. Maar Saibari zegt ook dat Kompany een belangrijke rol had, dus ik ben benieuwd: krijgt hij bij Bayern dezelfde vrijheid als bij PSV? If not, dan is dit nog geen "boost", eerder hype... 👀
Die quote van Freund over "driedubbel landstitel" is netjes, maar ik vind het ook pijnlijk eerlijk. We hebben hem voorbereid op CL-niveau, en Bayern pakt nu de credits. Hopelijk krijgt PSV straks weer een vervanger die hetzelfde ritme in de aanval brengt, anders is het gat groot.
Geerink? Nee grapje, dit is gewoon Max Eberl die het perfect framen vindt: langetermijnplanning en dan meteen het Champions League argument. Wel oneerlijk dat PSV hem laat vertrekken voor veel geld, maar het gevoel blijft dat we een jaar te vroeg zijn kwijtgeraakt.
"Fans stromen massaal naar het stadion voor spelers zoals hij" ja ok, maar PSV fans zagen hem ook week in week uit. tbh wel knap dat Bayern zoveel vertrouwen geeft, maar dit ruikt ook naar een gokje op zijn doorbraak. Kompany gaat hem wel laten spelen, denk ik.
Eberl zegt dat dit "langetermijnplanning" is, oké, maar PSV houdt de deal ook goed gedraaid. Wat ik vooral hoor is vertrouwen in zijn "doelpuntenmakerij en mentaliteit". Hoop dat Saibari daar echt doorpakt en geen bankdeurtje wordt.
€55m en bonussen is w, maar ik wil wel weten hoe snel PSV een vervanger heeft. Saibari was toch een van de weinige creatieve prikken.
55 miljoen met bonussen, tbh dat voelt bijna als een win-win. Maar Bayern praat het weer zo op alsof PSV talentfabriek is, terwijl het hier gewoon verkoopdruk was. Saibari was wel echt peak when he wanted it.
bayern noemt hem "intens en gedurfd" en dat is grappig, want dat zagen we in Eindhoven ook al. ik hoop dat PSV straks die extra aanvallende kwaliteit terug kan kopen, want anders wordt dit seizoen toch weer schuiven.
55 miljoen inclusief bonussen is natuurlijk zuur voor het missen, maar het is ook keihard bewijs dat PSV hem goed heeft laten knallen. Saibari bij Bayern is echt een sprong, benieuwd of hij daar net zo direct durft als bij PSV.
