The French number two still isn’t giving up—PSV a stubborn negotiating partner?
1 min readLast week, Voetbal International and Eindhovens Dagblad brought the news to light that RC Lens from France would have made a bid for PSV defender Armando Obispo. According to reports, however, the offer the French had tabled for PSV was apparently too low, and the club demands at least five million euros for the centre-back.
Now, the French outlet Foot Mercato reports that RC Lens still hasn’t given up in the race for Obispo. The French see PSV as a stubborn negotiating partner, French media report. However, last season’s French number two is still determined to complete the signing of Obispo.
Despite multiple bids, PSV continues to insist that it wants to receive at least five million euros for the defender who has never been uncontroversial. The Eindhoven Dagblad also reported this earlier this week.
The negotiations between PSV and the Champions League participant are still ongoing. Obispo took part with Curaçao in the World Cup in North America, and that has also caught the attention of the French club.
RC Lens was so impressed by the defender at the World Cup that’s why the club wants to bring the PSV player to France. Despite the stubborn negotiations, the French keep pushing on.

Ik snap PSV wel, Obispo is nooit echt onomstreden, en je wil geen koopje weggeven. Tegelijk: als ze hem via het WK "ontdekt" hebben en blijven bieden, moet PSV het proces strak houden. Op zich mooi dat het niet meteen rond is, maar ik wil wél snelheid nu, anders lijd je vooral tijdverlies.
Wie kijkt mee? Lens calling PSV stugge onderhandelingspartner is funny... but if they keep improving bids, PSV will have to blink eventually. 👀
voetbaltransfers worden echt elke week dezelfde soap. "stugge onderhandelingspartner" klinkt wel als PSV, maar soms is het ook gewoon te hoog insteken. Als Lens echt wil dan moeten ze bij die 5 miljoen komen en klaar. Anders is het gewoon blijven wachten op een andere kandidaat, right? 🔥
Obispo has never been fully onomstreden, but €5m is still not crazy. The question is whether PSV stand firm because they rate him, or because they want to squeeze max value before selling.
Vijf miljoen is imo niet gek als PSV het echt als vraagprijs hanteert, maar Obispo moet dan ook gewoon bewezen hebben dat hij dat bedrag waard is. Lens lijkt me vooral te pushen omdat ze hem op het WK gezien hebben. Hoop wel dat PSV niet opnieuw gaat zakken omdat "de Fransen doorzetten".

If Lens truly keeps going, it means Obispo must be the perfect fit for them after that World Cup. But €5m seems like the bare minimum, tbh, especially with how PSV have to protect the budget.
