PSV target news: “Still uncertain”
1 min readIt is still unclear where the future of NEC midfielder Kodai Sano lies. A few weeks ago, Sano seemed to be on his way to TSG Hoffenheim in Germany, but with the signing of Nathan De Cat, it seems the Germans are not going to take the Japanese player from the Nijmegen club.
It has also been clear for some time now that PSV has shown strong interest in the key player of Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie. The midfielder had an excellent season with Dick Schreuder's surprise team, who finished third in the Eredivisie and will therefore play in the 2026/2027 season in the Champions League qualifiers.
Despite concrete interest from PSV, the Japanese player initially had his sights set on a transfer abroad, Mike Verweij of De Telegraaf reported earlier. ''PSV has been keeping Sano on their radar for quite some time, but Sano has it in his mind that he wants to go abroad. He has turned down PSV. PSV could come back into the picture for Sano, but he would rather go to the Premier League or the Bundesliga'', said Verweij.
By deflecting his transfer to Hoffenheim, it cannot be ruled out that Sano will change his plans. This is also reported by PSV watcher Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad.

Still, Elfrink knows that PSV still has patience with regard to the midfielder. ''PSV seems willing to wait a bit longer for Sano, and it is still uncertain whether he will follow through on his plans to go abroad'', so writes the PSV watcher in Eindhovens Dagblad.
NEC trainer Dick Schreuder recently told De Gelderlander that he expects Sano to leave after all this summer. ''Sano is doing well. When a transfer was close, I did notice something about him, but I don't have that feeling anymore now. I don't get the impression that this is a setback for him. It's impressive how he handles this. He has a very strong personality. It only makes him stronger. We try to help him in every way possible. I expect that he will still leave later this summer, because there is a lot of interest in him'', Schreuder said to the outlet.

PSV waiting mode tbh.
