PSV must target defender Club Brugge’s Achilles heel

PSV is still looking on the transfer market for new defenders. Left-back Anass Salah-Eddine has returned to AS Roma, and it appears that Adamo Nagalo is set to leave Eindhoven for good.

Captain Jerdy Schouten, who last season was deployed by Peter Bosz as a central defender, is ruled out until the beginning of 2027 and is therefore not an option for Bosz for the first half of the season. In addition, it is still unclear what will happen with Armando Obispo.

The Bishop is explicitly in the spotlight of RC Lens from France, and the French are all too keen to bring the defender in. In recent months, PSV has repeatedly been linked to the Spanish defender Sergi Domínguez from Dinamo Zagreb.

Domínguez, however, seems to be heading to Lazio Rome, meaning PSV will be left chasing the game. According to football journalist Dylan ter Laak from the outlet FootballTransfers, PSV would do well to keep an eye on the 21-year-old defender Jorne Spileers from Club Brugge.

''Data from FootballTransfers also indicates that it is wiser for PSV to go for Spileers'', the journalist continues. ''The Belgian defender has a Skill rating of 63.8, while his potential Skill rating is 75.3. Domínguez, in turn, has a Skill rating of 56.0 and a potential Skill rating of 73.0, meaning he must do with both being outperformed by Spileers'', said Ter Laak.
