Fulham don’t get it right again | PSV fan dreams out loud: ‘Peter Bosz replacement Ronald Koeman, Arne Slot to PSV’

1 min read

Completely unexpected and, somewhere also somewhat unfair, Arne Slot was dismissed last Saturday by Liverpool. Immediately, this news was followed by numerous reactions and speculation. AC Milan, Benfica, and many other clubs were instantly linked to the coach from Zwolle.

PSV and Ajax were also mentioned for Arne Slot. It should be clear that there is currently by no means any question of that, but plenty of PSV fans are musing loudly on social media about a future for Slot in Eindhoven. That such a scenario could turn out to be a reality after all cannot be ruled out entirely either.

By now, Slot has declined an offer to become head coach at Fulham. This is reported by the English outlet talkSPORT, a major radio station in England. The London club has especially often missed out in recent months. To date, Fulham has been unable to sign Ricardo Pepi from PSV, despite an earlier agreement with PSV.

Fulham is looking for a new head coach following the departure of Marco Silva, who is moving to Benfica. Slot was in the sights of The Cottagers, but he has reluctantly given up the chance to move to west London.

TalkSPORT reported earlier this week that Slot might take a sabbatical next season, but the man from Zwolle will nevertheless still be linked with a whole host of clubs in the coming weeks and months. For a PSV fan on X, Slot’s dismissal at Liverpool is in any case a reason to loudly dream about Slot coming to PSV.

The PSV fan has little to no confidence in Ronald Koeman, as emerges from his post on X. 'Let Peter Bosz replace Ronald Koeman after the second round in which Oranje is eliminated, then Arne Slot can replace Peter Bosz at PSV', it says with the necessary imagination. Well, we can't rule out a phone call from Zeist to Bosz any later this summer should Koeman actually end up failing with Oranje.

Goal!! The best part is the intensity, but ngl i want more vertical passes early. Otherwise we end up knocking it around until the other team resets. ⚽

🔥🔥🔥 Clean build-up, then a proper burst into the box. Thats the PSV DNA. Lets see it against the next tough opponent, no excuses.

Ngl, PSV Inside makes it sound like everything is fixable in training, but players need confidence too. If the coach wants more directness, then we should commit to it, no half measures 🤡

Gravenberch at the base for 90 minutes would be peak. Right now we win the ball but dont always turn it into a clear chance, thats the annoying part. 💯

Brilliant if the plan is to overload the right side, but Gutierrez needs to be more direct, stop drifting inside every time. When he does it, the fullback is left alone 👀

That quote about being 'braver on the ball' better translate into starters actually taking risks, not just recycling passes. Otherwise it becomes possession for possession, and we all know it ends midtable-style lol.

Eens. The defensive duels and cover were the whole story. When PSV won second balls, it looked like a different team. Still, we have to tighten up after corners, that was shaky.

Eens. If Gakpo plays like he did, pressing high and linking up fast, we will look unstoppable up top. No excuses for the defense though, stay switched on. 🔥

"PSV are still building," and honestly i agree. The talent is there, but the spacing between the lines gets messy when we press. Eduard midgame decisions have to be cleaner if we want consistency in Europe. 👀

Luuk de Jong cameo or not, this team needs quicker combinations in the half-spaces. Right now the final pass is always one touch too late, and then it gets panic-y 😅

The article says the fullbacks are pushing higher, and i agree... but then the space behind them becomes a problem. We saw it last matches, you cant leave the winger 1v1 that much, thats asking for a goal. 👀

"Inside PSV" with all these positive takes, but tbh our buildup still looks too slow sometimes. Saibari and Tillman need more directness, not more touches.

Frenkie? i dont even know what people are expecting, but in transition PSV need the midfield to turn faster. If the ball takes 2 extra seconds, the whole press becomes pointless 💀

Luuk de Jong must be eating these crosses alive, but i still feel we leave too much space behind the winger sometimes. Would like to see more of that quick layoff and then go at the overlap. 🔥

"PSV Inside" mentioned the pressing triggers and i agree, but i also think it depends on the opponent. If we jump too early, we lose shape instantly. Maybe thats why it felt inconsistent lately.

Bro the tactics on PSV Inside had me thinking, why are we leaving space between the fullback and the winger so often? When that gap opens, every opponent looks like they have a free lane to our box 😅⚽

That PSV midfield balance still looks shaky to me. If they want more control in games like this, someone needs to step up defensively when the fullbacks push high. Otherwise it turns into a transition festival.

P
PSV_Sven6 Jun, 11:44

If PSV really go with that midfield shape again, i feel like we will get bypassed in transitions. Tillman has to be brave off the ball, otherwise its just chaos.

P

If PSV really want to control games, we cant keep playing too safe in the build-up. Against real pressure, that first-pass quality needs to be sharper. Otherwise we end up inviting the counter.

If PSV want to win the middle, they have to press the second ball harder. tbh too many times the buildup turns into a slow walk for the opposition.
