Former PSV loanee departs for RSC Anderlecht

1 min read

After three seasons, Belgian club RSC Anderlecht decided not to renew Thorgan Hazard's contract. The brother of former footballer Eden Hazard came to Brussels in the summer of 2023 from Borussia Dortmund and played the second half of the 2022/2023 season still for PSV.

In that season, Hazard played a major role as a substitute in the KNVB Cup final against Ajax. The Belgian scored the equalizer in the middle of the second half (1-1), causing the match to end up in extra time and a penalty shootout.

In the penalty shootout, Hazard scored the first penalty for PSV, bringing the team of Ruud van Nistelrooij alongside Ajax. Ultimately, PSV won the penalty shootout 2-3, meaning they won for the second season in a row in the finale against the Amsterdammers.

"We controlled the game" nah, we survived parts of it. When the tempo dropped, they found space behind us way too easy. 👀

Look, im not even hating, but PSV looked a bit shaky in the transition. Give me more direct runs between the lines, less sideways passing and we cook 💯

I think the fullback positioning was the real issue. When they tucked in too early, our wingers got isolated and the counter looked dangerous every time.

That substitution timing was mid tbh. If the plan was to keep pressing, why wait until we were already pinned in our own half? 🤬

"He is ready to take the next step" vibes but tbh we need the next step to show up in the final third, not only in build-up. Still hoping he gets 30+ minutes and actually attacks the box ⚽🔥

Im ngl, if we keep playing out from the back like that, opponents will be all over Luuk's second ball. Need more control in midfield, not just vibes.
