UEFA refers to PSV regarding the Champions League 2026–2027
1 min readThanks to the third national championship in a row, PSV will also compete next season in the main tournament of the UEFA Champions League. Since the 2001/2002 season, the German sports brand Adidas has produced the iconic Champions League ball with the familiar stars.
On the logo and on the ball of the Champions League, there are eight stars that refer to the eight clubs that participated in the first edition of the Champions League in 1992, then known as the European Cup I. PSV is one of the clubs that participated in the first edition of the billion-dollar competition in 1992, and therefore the football association from Switzerland, in one of these eight stars, refers to PSV.
According to the generally reliable Footy Headlines, the ball for next season has been leaked. The ball is white and has shades of blue, green, yellow and pink.
Moreover, it is the last ball produced by Adidas. Starting with the 2027/2028 season, Nike will be producing the Champions League ball for the United States.
Before Adidas produced the ball, Nike was also already responsible for the production of the Champions League ball. From the 2006/2007 season onwards, the Champions League standard is played with Adidas’ iconic ball, while in the seasons before that, participating clubs still played with their own ball.

"laatste bal die door Adidas wordt geproduceerd" voelt toch als een soort afscheid. Hopelijk gebruiken we hem als extra motivatie om in de groep echt door te pakken, want CL is toch ander niveau. Witte basis met die kleuren, gaan ze dat niet te veel laten schreeuwen?

The eight stars thing is cool, PSV really gets one of the 1992 Europa Cup I references. If the Footy Headlines leak is right, that last Adidas CL ball in 2026/27 is going to look special... and then Nike takes over in 27/28 😅
Zwart op wit: acht sterren die teruggaan naar 1992, dat klopt dus historisch voor PSV. Maar die Footy Headlines leak... wit met blauw-groen-geel-roze klinkt wel mega druk, hopen dat het mooi uitgewerkt is op matchday. Wat denken jullie? 😅
8 sterren verwijzen naar 1992, bruh die geschiedenis blijft lekker toch. Als deze witte bal met blauw-groen-geel-roze klopt dan is het best eye-candy. Wel jammer dat Adidas stopt, want die classic look voelt echt als Champions League.
Derde landstitel op rij en dan ook nog die Champions Leaguebal ... Adidas echt als een traditie. Toch jammer dat 2027/2028 Nike het overneemt, die bal heeft echt identiteit. 👀🔥
