FC Twente fans are urging PSV on, but expect a transfer fee of more than 10 million plus.
1 min readPSV is being linked with FC Twente standout Mats Rots, although the rumors mainly seem to be coming from the eastern part of the country. Some FC Twente watchers report that PSV is interested in Mats Rots, but whether the rumors should be taken very seriously is something we doubt.
According to the Eindhoven Daily News, the interest should not immediately be taken very seriously. The regional paper reports that PSV has still not held talks with the twenty-year-old defender of the Tukkers about a potential transfer. The rumours about PSV’s interest in Rots mainly seem to have been brought over from Enschede, but the Eindhoven Daily News reports that, if there had indeed been discussions, contact would first have been made with Earnest Stewart, but that is not the case.
Multiple sources confirm to Eindhovens Dagblad that there has been no contact between Rots and PSV. In the rumor circuit, it did sound like Peter Bosz and the FC Twente defender might have spoken with each other, but according to the newspaper that is not true. First, communication would have to come from Stewart, before a conversation with Peter Bosz could take place. The twenty-year-old experienced his breakthrough season at FC Twente and this season played 35 matches for the club, in which he started in all games. His contract in Enschede runs until mid-2027 and according to Transfermarkt he has a market value of ten million euros. That figure can be called on the high side.
At FC Twente, Rots, together with Ruud Nijstad, is seen as a great talent, which means PSV may have to reach for the purse to also secure the left fullback. It is also not the first time the name of Rots has come up around PSV.

Fans of the club from Enschede are already getting in touch with PSV about business with their favourite club, but at the same time there is also the message to put at least 10 million euros on the table for Rots. The fans of FC Twente are also stirring on X about a possible future sell-on percentage for Rots. 'At least 10 million euros, PSV has plenty of money,' thinks a fan of FC Twente.

Twente fans saying
I actually like Mats Rots, he looks so solid in that left-sided defensive role. But paying ten million or more when there has been no confirmed contact is risky, especially when PSV can probably get good deals elsewhere. If he is truly worth it, then let PSV prove it with a serious bid and a clear plan.
I get the excitement, but PSV should not rush for a rumour. The fact that Stewart was not contacted first is a big detail, it suggests there is no real plan yet. If Bosz is not talking directly, then it is probably just agent talk.
10 million for Mats Rots sounds like a lot, but if he is really a key defender and always starts like they say, PSV won't be buying a rotation piece. Still, I hope Bosz is looking at actual needs, not just reacting to Twente hype.
10 million plus for Rots feels a bit optimistic. If PSV has not even spoken to him, the price tag is basically hype from Enschede. Still, a 2027 contract and 35 games this season do make him a real target.
