Eredivisie Ajax – PSV still a topic of conversation | 'They’re not going to be able to stop Sjaak Swart anymore now'
1 min readPeople still can’t get over it in Amsterdam. At least, a part of the fans, because the PSV fans, including the chairman of the PSV supporters association, had nice words for the initiative of the Amsterdamers.
The players of Ajax arrived properly for the players of PSV last Saturday evening on to the pitch, because otherwise that honor guard could not be deployed. Immediately, the crowd in the Johan Cruijff Arena started booing, because this was simply not what people appreciated. It really was a bit ridiculous too, because the opponent PSV had not become champions of the Netherlands just yet, but already a few weeks earlier.
A week after the match, it’s still the subject of conversation. Even Voetbal International columnist Nico Dijkshoorn can’t help but take a hard swipe at the Amsterdammers, because who would come up with something like that—it drips from Dijkshoorn’s column.
'It says everything about the current situation at Ajax. Apparently, there is absolutely no connection between the Ajax supporters and Jordi Cruyff. The board drips like clinging cooking residue over Jordi’s feet. Only someone who has completely failed to understand Dutch football and the club sentiments that have flowed through it over the past twenty years would come up with the idea of lining up an honour guard for PSV', writes Dijkshoorn in his column in the weekly magazine.

'I think it could become a turning point. Sjaak Swart, they won’t be able to keep them quiet at all for the coming years. Suddenly I even feel some sympathy for Sjaak, who once scolded a referee completely out of line in some Ajax business space. Of course it’s lunacy, that constant absurd hatred toward Rotterdam and Eindhoven, but this, standing neatly in line for PSV—that must have been the idea of someone who understands absolutely nothing about Amsterdam supporters', Dijkshoorn points to the crowd.
'It was also so incredibly kilos of mustard after the meal. PSV had even gone hothousing on Ibiza with the entire squad. By the way, are we going to talk about it next time, that embarrassing trip for adult men. Drinking rosé from a woman’s navel and dancing to the latest hit by DJ Cumflower—I've just got the idea that, for example, someone like Kasper Dolberg might have thanked them for that,' said Nico Dijkshoorn about the honorary arch in the Johan Cruijff Arena.

Honestly, that whole erehaag thing just feels weird and forced. If PSV was already celebrating the title, Ajax fans should focus on football, not theatrics. Still, Nico Dijkshoorn is going too far with the Ibiza and Dolberg stuff.
