A deal for Ismael Saibari and for FC Bayern Munich for an agreed transfer fee of €55 million

1 min read

The transfer of Ismael Saibari to FC Bayern München is completely settled and has now also been finalized. Both clubs had already confirmed the million-euro transfer last week.

PSV is praised from every angle, but Aad de Mos also points to the coach who has since almost been forgotten: Earnie Stewart's predecessor, John de Jong. 'Nice work, right?', De Mos begins, talking about De Jong, who has had a significant role in Saibari's arrival at PSV.

Aad de Mos believes that PSV’s former technical director John de Jong should be grateful for the arrival of Ismael Saibari. In De Oranjezomer, De Mos praises the man who led the technical policy in Eindhoven between 2018 and 2022. According to De Mos, during his time at PSV De Jong did not always receive the recognition he deserved. "People never spoke that well of him, because he was replaced by Earnest Stewart. But he has done a lot of very good things," says De Mos.

The analyst thereby points to the transfer of Saibari. "He took him away from Genk for 200 thousand euros—that’s great work, right? If you then get 55 million euros for him now, you’ve certainly got your money back as a technical manager."

Presenter Hélène Hendriks then cites the criticism Saibari received in the past about his physique. "It’s been said more than once that he’s too fat. Ruud van Nistelrooij said then: that’s not true, that’s just his build. He has only eight percent body fat." The Mos can confirm that. "And he’s tall. You get a shock when you stand next to him, he’s an extremely long guy. You don’t see that on the pitch. He’s also a really nice guy. He’s very good for the fans and for the youth; he always stays to the very end for autographs. That’s a bit of a loss for PSV."

Still, Ismael Saibari has been dealt a major setback now that he has been injured during the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The Moroccan international was forced to leave the pitch early in the round of 16 match between Morocco and Canada. That is a major blow for the Moroccans, who were counting on their top scorer.

Saibari was in excellent form prior to the meeting. The attacker found the net in all three group matches against Brazil, Scotland and Haiti. In the round of 16 against the Netherlands, a goal was left wanting, but from the penalty spot onwards he remained ice-cold by firing home the decisive penalty. After that came the emotions with his family, but now, of course, also a hamstring injury. It is unclear how long Saibari will be out, but it should be clear that this can be called a major setback for both Morocco and for FC Bayern.

55 miljoen voor Saibari is wss echt peak business, maar domper met die hamstring nu precies op z'n momentum. Hopelijk Bayern kan hem snel fit krijgen, want die WK-goals waren echt gas.
