Two more PSV players almost certainly qualified for the World Cup
1 min readIn a few weeks, it’s finally happening: the 2026 FIFA World Cup will kick off in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. A number of PSV players will also be taking part this coming summer to represent their country on the highest global stage.
It was already known that Ivan Perisic (Croatia), Esmir Bajraktarevic (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Paul Wanner (Austria) and Armando Obispo (Curaçao) will represent their country this coming summer. It appears that Ismael Saibari and Anass Salah-Eddine will join them, as the PSV duo—both of whom also played at the Africa Cup—have been included in Morocco’s preliminary squad, which consists of 28 players.
However, this is not yet the final squad selection, as captain and star player Achraf Hakimi is absent because the right-back is preparing with Paris Saint-Germain for the Champions League final. After the training camp from 22 to 26 May, national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi will announce the final squad.

if Saibari en Salah-Eddine echt in die voorlopige Marokko-lijst staan dan is dat echt big. Hopelijk blijft hun ritme heel de meivakantie niet stuk, want met het WK-geweld wil je niet "mid" aankomen.
tbh i would rather Saibari goes as a starter role, not as "depth". If he gets minutes in the group games, that is pure growth for PSV. 👀
Idk, voorlopige selectie zegt me niet zoveel. Zelfs met EK's en WK's zie je vaak dat een speler net afvalt door vorm of blessure. Maar ja, Salah-Eddine op basis van z'n AFCON-periode... dat zou toch moeilijk te negeren zijn.
If Hakimi wegvalt in de definitieve selectie, dan krijgt Marokko links/rechts meer druk op de andere keuzes. Ben benieuwd of Ouahbi Saibari sneller als starter durft te zetten, want met wereldniveau is elke fit-mentale timing cruciaal.
🔥 Nog niet definitief, maar het voelt wel alsof het al bijna rond is. Als Marokko Hakimi mist, kan er ruimte vallen voor die PSV-connectie. Wie denkt dat Saibari start?
Saibari en Salah-Eddine in die 28-man Marokko lijst is gewoon mooi nieuws, eindelijk weer PSV-energie op het WK podium. Hakimi ontbreekt door die CL-finale, logisch maar tbh dat maakt Marokko wel extra interessant om te volgen.
Hakimi ontbreekt omdat hij met PSG richting CL-finale gaat, logisch maar wel jammer. Ben benieuwd of Ouahbi dan Saibari laat doorzetten als soort motor op het middenveld, dat past hem toch meer dan op randje improviseren.
Saibari en Salah-Eddine erbij in die voorlopige Marokko-lijst is echt lekker voor de zomer. Hopelijk krijgen ze daar ook minuten, anders is het alleen 'in de groep hangen'.
Hakimi being absent for the final selection is understandable, but it does make the window a bit weird. I am mostly watching how PSV benefits, because we need both in good shape, not burned after another big tournament run.
If Saibari and Salah-Eddine make it, that is massive experience for next season. 🔥 Also curious how Morocco uses them tactically, especially with Hakimi still out for the final build-up.
