Astonishment from Telegraaf journalist after Bosz’s statements: ‘Now he suddenly gave an opening’

1 min read

After the match PSV - Feyenoord (3-0) on 1 February of this calendar year, Peter Bosz, after the game, told the camera of ESPN that the coach had extended his contract until 2028. In the weeks before, the media mostly focused on the question of whether Bosz would or would not stay and whether he might become the new national team coach of Oranje after the World Cup.

Ultimately, Bosz therefore stayed loyal to PSV and last Sunday at NOS Studio Voetbal, the coach said that there are a few clauses in the trainer's contract. This is causing surprise for Valentijn Driessen of De Telegraaf.

This tells the journalist in the De Telegraaf podcast Kick-off. ''I found it very special. I found it very strange, because during the signing, there was no such thing and nobody had to call, because he had not signed a new contract for nothing. And now he suddenly gave an opening'', says Driessen in the podcast.

The 'master predictor' also claims to know which clauses Bosz has had put into his contract. 'Bosz has opened the door to the KNVB and there are agreements for other clubs likely. In fact, there are clauses for other clubs in his contract, but not for the Netherlands national team. Yet he keeps the door open. I found that very remarkable,' the journalist continues.

For Driessen, it is therefore also clear who should be on the touchline for the Netherlands at the next World Cup. ''I would like to see him as head coach of the Netherlands national team after the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico,'' the journalist concludes.

Eens. If they want goals, they should stop forcing it wide and use the half-spaces more. That winger drifts too much, then we look predictable. 💯

Wie kijkt mee? if the article is right about the tactics, then tonight is either peak or a disaster. i am leaning peak though, because the intensity at home is usually different. W

"PSV Inside" calling the pressing the main weapon is fair, but tbh it depends who starts. If Schouten is not on the front foot, the press turns into a jog and Ajax-style transitions ruin it. 🔥

Tbh, the quote about patience sounds good, but in big games patience gets you stung. Against Ajax they need that first pass quicker, otherwise it becomes 70 minutes of defending. 😅

"We have to be more brave in build-up" is true, but bravery without being clever is suicidal. Against teams that press like crazy, PSV have to use the third man faster or we will lose it on the half turn. 🔥

Id like to see Guus Til get more touches between the lines. Right now it feels like PSV can move the ball well, but the final third decision-making is sometimes a bit slow, could cost us vs tougher opponents. 0-0 fear is real, ngl. 💯

Come on, Luuk de Jong up top as a plan A is still a bit limited. It works if we feed him early, otherwise its just long balls and hope, thats not PSV style. 🙄

"We need more control in build-up" i mean yeah, but who is supposed to unlock it when the midfield is only jogging? Make it faster, get the ball between lines. 🚀

Seeing the lineup talk about pressing intensity, i actually agree. But if the first press triggers late, it turns into chaos and then the back line has to save us again. 👀

"PSV Inside" said the fullbacks were key in the build-up, and tbh it shows. When they step in early, the midfield gets so much cleaner passing lanes. But if they dont track runners, it turns into chaos fast. 👀

I just watched the PSV Inside bit and if that midfield setup is true, i get why they said control is the goal. Still, when the fullbacks push too high, it feels like the space behind them gets punished. 👀

If PSV start relying on those same half-space runs again, we will get punished. I want to see more vertical play through the middle, not just wide recycling.

i really wonder if the coach will trust the same right-back again... the overlap was nice but the defensive moments were shaky. Need more control in possession, not just hustle.

"PSV Inside" is finally talking about the midfield balance for once. With that setup, you either dominate transitions or get punished fast, no in between. 💯

If PSV start with that high press again, i just hope it doesnt leave the back line exposed after 60 minutes. Donyell Malen looked sharp though, that first-step in transition is always a threat. 🔥

If PSV start with that press high again, i hope it doesnt leave the back line exposed. Dumfries pushing forward means Sangare needs to be locked in behind him. 👀
