The new third shirt for the 2026–2027 season
1 min readIn fact, it is no longer news because more than a year ago it was announced that PSV will play next season, the 2026-2027 season, in away kit that has been designed by the supporters.
Or more precisely, by one particular supporter, who is still somewhat happy that his creation will be going to be the new away shirt for the coming season. The shirt may become nice, classy and classic “PSV-blue”, or more precisely “Philips-blue”.
PSV informed fans at the time that they could submit their ideas for the new third shirt. In the end, Dirk van Gaal was the winner. His design received more than thirty percent of the votes.
The dark blue checked kit will be worn by PSV in the 2026/27 season during European matches. Van Gaal is immensely proud of the special appointment. "I find it hard to imagine that PSV, the club I have supported all my life, will soon play in my design", says Van Gaal, who in everyday life works as a graphic designer.

"Philips-blauw" klinkt wel echt PSV, maar ben benieuwd of het Europees genoeg is. 30% stemmen is leuk, toch had ik liever wat meer spanning gezien in het ontwerp. ⚽👀
"Ik kan me maar moeilijk voorstellen dat PSV, de club waar ik al mijn hele leven supporter van ben, straks in mijn design speelt" echt prachtig. Als je zo'n life-long fan bent snap ik de trots 100%, dit is gwn PEAK betrokkenheid. 🚀
tbh 30% van de stemmen betekent toch dat de rest ook iets anders wilde. hoop dat ze het shirt niet te lang laten wachten met een fijne afwerking, want blokken kunnen snel druk worden. 💀
Ik vind het wel tof dat het idee vanuit fans komt, maar ik hoop dat het niet alleen "mooi" is, ook gewoon functioneel. Donkerblauw met blokken kan een statement worden, zeker als het goed gecombineerd wordt met sponsor en piping. 👀
Philips-blauw klinkt echt chique, die blokken bedoel ik. Ben benieuwd hoe het in Europa gaat ogen, want daar moet het toch net wat meer "af" zijn. ❤️⚽
