Sports journalists are enthusiastic: “A player who sometimes likes to play against the established order”
1 min readLast season, the eighteen-year-old Noah Fernandez was definitively placed in PSV’s senior squad by coach Peter Bosz. In the match against PEC Zwolle (0-4) on 4 October 2025, Fernandez made his official debut for PSV.
Also in the run-up to the 2026/2027 season, the young Belgian player already logged the necessary minutes. The midfielder was also responsible for the only goal in the friendly match against Royal Antwerp FC (1-1) on 4 July of this month.
Fernandez now has to go and make a big impact now that Ismael Saibari has left for FC Bayern München and captain Jerdy Schouten is ruled out until at least the beginning of 2027. ''Last season, he moved the young midfielder from PSV up to the first team. For quite a while now, there has been talk inside the club that the eighteen-year-old Belgian is a player who might make his way onto the pitch and start challenging the established order in the coming season,'' write reporters Tim Reedijk and Joost Blaauwhof in Voetbal International.
The goal and his position in midfield against Royal Antwerp are also discussed by the journalists. ''He took out two opponents before he scored the first unofficial PSV goal of the season. Fernandez played as a holding midfielder, where Bosz has a vacancy due to Schouten's cruciate ligament injury'', continue Reedijk and Blaauwhof.

According to both men, the midfielder can easily keep up with the football that Peter Bosz demands from his players. ''Fernandez demonstrated that, just like in substitute appearances and sporadic starting roles last season, he could handle Bosz's revolving-door style of football, with plenty of positional switches. In combination with his technique and nerve, Fernandez shows signs of a PSV player worthy of a place in the starting lineup'', the duo concludes.
