Former cult hero of PSV remains active in the football world: “For me, this is a perfect opportunity”
1 min readLast winter, former PSV defender and cult hero among the supporters Nicolas Isimat-Mirin decided to stop his active football career. The 34-year-old Frenchman was active for PSV between 2014 and 2019 and was among other things three times league champion.
After leaving at Kallithea from Greece, Isimat decided that it was enough and to stop playing football. Now the Frenchman knows what he wants after his career has ended.
''It is a very special year for me. I start in October with VC1 and VC2 (coaching course, tr.) and I'm also working at PSV under-17'', says Isimat to Sportnieuws.nl.
Isimat says, among other things, that he enjoys being able to work with young players. ''I really find it great to work with young players. They all dream of becoming professional footballers, and I think that's wonderful to see '', as the former defender says.
The Frenchman also enjoys sharing his own experiences. ''It’s great to share my experiences from professional football with them, so they can get everything out of their careers. For me, this is a perfect opportunity to see whether coaching is a fit for me. It’s still a bit of an adjustment, but I’m enjoying it,'' concludes Isimat.

"Voor mij is dit een perfecte kans om te kijken of het trainersvak bij me past." Dit klinkt oprecht, maar training is toch echt wat anders dan spelen. Ik wil hem ballen zien geven aan de verdedigers, niet alleen uitleggen hoe het moet.
Leuk dat hij zijn profervaring kan doorgeven, maar ik ben benieuwd hoe hij omgaat met verdedigen in PSV-stijl. Jongens moeten durven opbouwen, niet alleen tackelen.
VC1 en VC2 in oktober en dan ook nog met PSV Onder 17 is echt serieus. 👏 Isimat heeft altijd karakter gehad als verdediger, nu maar hopen dat hij die mentaliteit ook bij de jeugd erin slaat.
