PSV watcher points at striker: ‘Maybe a ready-made option for next season’

1 min read

This season, PSV has been able to take little pleasure in Alassane Pléa. In the away match against FC Twente (0-2) on 17 August last year, the French striker was badly injured in his knee, which means the attacker has been sidelined ever since.

In the meantime, the attacker is already back in training and it seems he may still be able to make his return this season despite the fact that there are only two matches left to play. Otherwise, Pléa will shift his focus to the 2026/2027 season.

''The intended second striker in PSV's squad, Alassane Pléa (33), missed almost the entire season due to a serious knee injury, although he is training with the group again at PSV. See him as a free transfer—maybe a ready-made option for next season,'' writes PSV watcher Tim Reedijk of Voetbal International in VI.

''Even if it is always a question of how a player of his age with damage to the cartilage in his knee returns'', Reedijk says.

Alongside the 33-year-old striker, Ruben van Bommel is also well on his way to being an option again for Peter Bosz next season. ''A second free transfer this summer after Pléa is Ruben van Bommel (21), who, because of an ACL injury, only played eight matches this season. He is doing everything possible to be fit at the start of the new campaign,'' said Reedijk.
