Peter Bosz on Ajax rumors and his relationship with Jordi Cruijff
1 min readPeter Bosz was a guest on Studio Voetbal on Sunday evening. The coach from Apeldoorn was also asked about the approaches and attempts at contact coming from Amsterdam.
Clearly as he has always been, Bosz also did not skirt around it on Sunday evening. Bosz, in fact, has not been approached by Jordi Cruijff to become coach of Ajax. That is the gist of his answer at Studio Voetbal. Bosz is also asked whether he is still open to a role as national team coach of the Netherlands. He does not seem fully willing to close that door.
"You are, of course, very good friends with Jordi Cruijff; has he carefully tried to sound you out in the past few months?" asks presenter Sjoerd van Ramshorst to Bosz. "No. He said he intentionally hasn’t done that, because he sees that I’m enjoying it at PSV. Therefore he didn’t do it", Bosz makes clear.
The name of Bosz was indeed recently linked to Ajax. Telegraaf journalist Mike Verweij stated in Kick-Off that the PSV coach was the absolute dream candidate for Cruijff, who had already previously collaborated with Bosz, at Maccabi Tel Aviv.
"Peter Bosz, that was Jordi Cruijff's dream candidate, but it soon became clear that he wouldn't come, especially after he signed on with PSV", the journalist from De Telegraaf said a few weeks earlier.

Wacht maar, die Telegraaf quote "droomkandidaat" klinkt als clickbait. Bosz lijkt me veel te veel een systeemman, bij PSV heeft hij tenminste zeggenschap en dat "bondscoach" deur open laten is ook slim. 👀🐐
"Omdat hij ziet dat ik het naar mijn zin heb bij PSV" is wel echt Bosz in een zin. Idk, ik geloof gewoon niet in Ajax-spanningsverhalen als hij zegt dat Jordi het bewust niet doet. Laat ze lekker blijven speculeren, wij blijven bouwen. 💯
Bondscoach-open deur maar niet bij Ajax, dat zegt genoeg. Bosz wil eerst winnen met PSV, en later pas Oranje. 👀
Ik blijf wel lachen om die 'droomkandidaat' van Verweij. Als hij bijtekent bij PSV, dan is het toch logisch dat er geen gesprek komt. Tbh snap ik die journalisten niet, altijd net te laat met hun verhaal.
Ajax hoopte op een switch, maar Bosz zit duidelijk nog top op zijn plek bij PSV. Imo die band met Jordi is dan vooral media-gedoe, niet echt concreet. 🔥
Good dat Bosz het meteen rechtzet. Jordi Cruijff kan praten wat hij wil, als Bosz zegt dat hij het niet geprobeerd heeft... dan is het gewoon rookgordijn.
"Nee. Hij zei dat hij dat bewust niet heeft gedaan" vind ik echt netjes uitgelegd door Bosz. Laat me niet lachen als er dan alsnog in de media wordt gespeculeerd, Ajax fans denken vaak dat alles kan.
Good, Bosz gewoon lekker bij PSV houden. Tbh Jordi of wie dan ook, als het puur om Ajax-droomkandidaat draait moet je juist niet gaan schuiven.
Tbh die Telegraaf-kop klinkt als pure ajax-wens. Als hij "niet benaderd" is, dan is het verhaal over droomkandidaat vooral gerommel in Amsterdam. Wel vind ik dat "bondscoach" vraag grappig, want als je echt happy bent bij PSV dan laat je die deur niet half open. 👀
W echt mooi dat Bosz zegt dat Cruijff hem niet heeft gepolst. Je merkt wel dat Ajax in de markt zat, maar PSV zit hem duidelijk in het contract en het voetbal past hem. Cruijff kan dromen hebben, maar Bosz kiest gewoon PSV. 🔥⚽
