Joey Veerman, clear: “Then we’ll just go for the fourth championship.”

Joey Veerman will, despite the fact that he still very much wants to make the step to abroad, also be active with PSV in the 2026/2027 season. Veerman says this in a conversation with ESPN.

In the previous season, the midfielder was twice close to a transfer. In the summer, English club Brentford was interested in Veerman, and in the winter it seemed as though the Volendam native would actually leave PSV to continue his career at Fenerbahçe SK.

Ultimately, the transfer to Turkey did not go through and Veerman was ultimately made champion of the Netherlands for the third time in a row with PSV. Now the midfielder can be brought in for about twenty million euros in Eindhoven via a transfer clause.

Despite this, nothing concrete is still happening around Veerman. ''Of course, my wish is to make a nice transfer, but given what it looks like at the moment, that isn't going to happen'', the current PSV player tells ESPN.

Yet the Volendam man remains quite sober about it. ''With all my full understanding, I signed a five-year contract. Then we’ll just go for the fourth championship. Of course, the championship doesn’t get old, because it always remains nice. But it’s just annoying that around you you hear a lot: 'how is it possible that you’ve never made a transfer?' At a certain point, it starts to gnaw at you,'' Veerman continues.

After that, the PSV player goes on about his future. ''I’m now 27, I have two kids and we’re almost getting married. This is also just a nice age to go and take a look somewhere else. But somehow it doesn’t work out'', the midfielder says.
