Is this PSV player not getting enough appreciation?

Thanks to a goal in stoppage time by Couhaib Driouech, PSV on 4 April of this year beat FC Utrecht 4-3, only to then see that second-placed Feyenoord a day later could not go beyond a goalless 0-0 away at FC Volendam. As a result, Peter Bosz’s team became the earliest-ever league champion in the history of the Eredivisie.

In conversation with Voetbal International, the forward looks back on this weekend. ''It was fantastic. On Saturday we played against FC Utrecht and in the 94th minute I scored the winning goal. Then you are a bit more than normally part of the celebration. On Sunday I watched at home with family the match of Feyenoord. That was a super-boring match, but for us, of course, it was still nice that we became champions through the draw'', Driouech tells PSV watcher Tim Reedijk.

After the match FC Volendam - Feyenoord, a real street party broke out on the Stratumseind. Driouech, who lives in Eindhoven, then decided to go out with his sisters to take part in the festivities. It was grand and compelling. Nevertheless, the forward, in conversation with Voetbal International, says that from time to time he would have liked to receive a bit more appreciation.

The question then is whether Driouech indeed receives too little appreciation from the media and fans? After PSV - Napoli and Liverpool - PSV, there was plenty of praise for the attacker. His goals at Anfield proved to be worth their weight in gold, but did he also really play well against Liverpool?

Not right away, because the ball bounced off his foot a number of times and there were also a few instances of losing possession in the combinations. For Peter Bosz, it seemed to be a sign to not start the next match with Driouech in the starting lineup, although the appreciation for his performances was still there.

Driouech also addresses the fact that after winning the league title PSV still had five matches left, and how the winger is going into those games. ''In my view, I still have everything to play for. I would like to show myself once more as well, including for the World Cup, which is very important to me. I want to increase my chances as much as possible,'' the fast wide player says.

The wing forward also does not want to say whether he actually has a chance at a place in Morocco's World Cup squad. ''I really don't know, but I have to do everything and then we'll see. Playing for Morocco is a dream for me and my entire family. I think it's realistic and that I can achieve it, but there are other people who have to make the decisions. It's up to me to make as much of an impression as possible and that's what I'm trying to do. I hope they've seen all my goals and assists this season and that they're keeping an eye on me'', Driouech said.
