Injection in the knee of Alassane Pléa | “I’m hard to convince”

1 min read

The return of French striker Alassane Pléa is imminent, but it won’t happen without a fight. The Frenchman is almost fully recovered from his serious injury, but he still wasn’t fit enough to play minutes against FC Twente.

Pléa managed to recover well, but his injury has turned into a long-term one. Around February 2026, Bosz said that Pléa would need an additional procedure on his knee to promote his recovery.

Pléa was injured in an away match against FC Twente in August 2025, with cartilage damage. It has recently emerged that the knee felt “a lot better and calmer” and that Pléa, after a tough rehabilitation, might be able to make his comeback in the match against FC Twente.

PSV watcher Jeroen Kapteijns from De Telegraaf had already voiced his doubts a month ago about the recovery of the French striker. The PSV watcher openly wondered whether Pléa would be able to return fully to the highest level again.

Also Bosz was cautious, but at the same time hopeful that the striker would be able to get back to his old level again after the long rehabilitation period. Sunday afternoon after the PSV - FC Twente match, Bosz said that a place on the bench against FC Twente was still not considered a good option because Pléa needed an injection in the knee.

That again raises doubts on social media about the possible return of the French striker. PSV fans, at least some of them, express doubts about Pléa’s return at the highest level.

"PSV's inside game was the key." Facts. The way they rotated into the half-spaces and pinned the fullbacks was peak. Its why the chances felt nonstop, not random. 💯

Im sorry but that quote about "control" is cap. We had control in name only, the passes were slow and Dumfries kept over-running his man.

Lambert actually looked more proactive than last match, credit where its due. If he keeps arriving early, the wide guys get easier 1v1s instead of only cutbacks. 👏

Tbh Maxime Dominguez in midfield showed some real control, but I still want PSV to play earlier into the half-spaces. When the passes take one extra touch, the defense resets and the wing switches get dead. Frustrating because the run timing was there, just not the ball speed.

Eens, the pressing triggers looked timed, but tbh the buildup still needs one extra option in midfield. When Veerman drops too deep, we get pinned and it becomes cross and pray. We are better than that, fr ⚽

Im not convinced with the latest pressing setup. The article made it sound super controlled, but it felt like we were chasing shadows for 20 minutes, especially after losing the second ball. 🤡

If the article is right about the plan being more direct with the wing-backs, that explains a lot. De Jong has to be sharper on his first touch though, otherwise it turns into slow recycling and Ajax fans will enjoy it 😂

Bro, if PSV keeps starting like this again, Malen has to be more direct. That buildup looked slow and easy to press, and it feels like we give the ball away 10 meters too far up the pitch. Need more tempo, otherwise its gonna be the same "almost" all season.

The part about pressing higher is true, but it only works if the fullbacks dont get caught leaving space behind. Tbh if we sit too deep after 60', it gets ugly fast.

Wie kijkt mee? 🔥 Ik hoop dat de trainer vandaag echt durft te wisselen, want die middenveld-lijn staat te ver uit elkaar.

That PSV midfield balance is still the make-or-break. If they go too high, opponents will roast Sangare and Til linespeed with those quick switches. 🔥

If PSV really want that faster build-up, they need Ihattaren on the ball more centrally, not stuck wide. Right now we look great for 10 minutes then it turns into sideways passing.
