In Waalwijk, they are looking forward to the arrival of Niek Schiks: “Fits perfectly”

Last weekend, after weeks of speculation, it was announced that goalkeeper Niek Schiks will be loaned by PSV next season to fellow provincial club RKC Waalwijk, who compete in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. Schiks made his debut last season for PSV’s first team in the away match against FC Groningen (1-2) due to injuries to Matej Kovar and Nick Olij.

Schiks made a great impression and prevented Peter Bosz's team on several occasions from falling further behind. After the match, the goalie was also named Star of the Match by PSV.

Now a rental period in Waalwijk is waiting for Schiks. In addition, the goalkeeper has extended his contract until mid-2028.

At Waalwijkers, they are certainly very excited about the arrival of the PSV goalkeeper. “Niek fits perfectly within the profile that we are looking for in a goalkeeper,” says technical director Bernard Schuiteman on the RKC club website.

The provincial club did not have to think long either when the opportunity arose to take over the goalkeeper on a loan basis. ''He is a modern keeper with good distribution and qualities with the ball. In addition, over the past few years he has developed strongly at Jong PSV and last season he made his debut in the Eredivisie. When the opportunity arose to bring him to Waalwijk, we did not need to think about it for long. We are pleased that he has chosen RKC Waalwijk,'' said Schuiteman.
