ED reveals the enormous asking price PSV is asking for a transfer of Ryan Flamingo

Ryan Flamingo is not unwilling to consider a transfer, but for the time being it does not seem that leaving PSV is on the cards. According to club watcher Rik Elfrink, so far no club has come forward that is prepared to meet Eindhoven’s financial demands.

In the podcast Heet van de Herdgang , Elfrink discusses the situation of the 23-year-old defender. Although he understands that Flamingo has ambitions to take a next step, he would also regret it if PSV were to lose him this summer.

"Ryan Flamingo would also like to make a step. On the one hand, I think that is a pity too", says Elfrink. "Even though he may not be one hundred percent a match for the way PSV wants him, I think he is one of the most important defenders. He has something that not everyone has: he is a guy. He’s someone for the body-to-body fights."

Flamingo did not always have an obvious role in the team last season. Partly because Jerdy Schouten was moved into the defense, he often had to settle for a spot outside the starting lineup. According to Elfrink, however, the cause was not with Flamingo himself.

"He was a bit unlucky last season when Schouten was in his position and then it started going with PSV. But it wasn’t his fault when things started going worse."

Despite Flamingo's wish to prove itself at a higher level, a transfer is still far from being close. PSV is reportedly asking for about twenty million euros for the defender—a sum that, for now, interested clubs do not want to pay.

"Flamingo wants to make the move and would then need to cost twenty million euros. The clubs are there, but they have not yet been shown willing to put that amount on the table."

Because of that, Elfrink sees the possibility that Flamingo will also play in Eindhoven next season. "For me, it feels like it’s just not quite finished yet. That he stays for another year."

If there is still movement later in the transfer window, Elfrink sees different leagues as a logical next step for the PSV defender. "Where Flamingo could then go? Maybe the Premier League or the Bundesliga. For him, you hope he makes a good choice and gets playing time. There could still be developments as well."

For now, departure does not seem imminent, but over the coming weeks, according to Elfrink, they could still be decisive for the future of Flamingo.
