Driouech praises a teammate: “I can learn a lot from him.”

1 min read

Since Excelsior’s arrival at PSV in the summer of 2024, Couhaib Driouech has mainly had to make do with substitute appearances due to the fierce competition on the wings. Last season, Driouech mainly had to make room for Noa Lang, and this season in particular for Ivan Perišić, since Ruben van Bommel has been ruled out since 21 September 2025.

Nevertheless, the quick left winger has a lot of respect for the experienced Croat, who was regularly replaced this season by Driouech. ''We, of course, play in the same position. He is a big name in football history, who has achieved a lot. I can learn a lot from him,'' the quick left winger says about Perisic in an interview with Voetbal International.

Despite the fact that Perisic is 37 years old, the Croatian versatile winger is still of great importance to PSV. For Driouech, the Croat is therefore a source of inspiration.

Especially after training sessions, Perisic lends a helping hand to his fellow forward. ''Often after training we still work on finishing or give cross balls. He is an example for many guys in everything he does to always stay fit, and that is admirable'', Driouech says about it.

In both an attacking and defensive perspective, Perisic is a player who always gives 100%, and coach Peter Bosz expects that from Driouech as well. The left winger himself believes that he can still improve a lot in that regard.

Well, the wing forward, according to him, will then have to get more playing time himself. ''Yes, I think so. Although I think you only take that step if you play a lot,'' Driouech concludes.
