Bosz speaks candidly about his style of play: “I don’t do it for those people.”

1 min read

Peter Bosz is already preparing for his fourth season as head coach of PSV. In the summer of 2023, Bosz was appointed head coach after PSV had to look for a new manager because Ruud van Nistelrooy threw in the towel before the end of the 2022/2023 season due to a perceived lack of trust.

Since the appointment of Bosz, PSV has been national champions three times in a row and now the coach is hoping to clinch a fourth consecutive league title. In addition, PSV is playing excellent football under the leadership of the current coach.

Before his arrival at PSV, the born Apeldoorner was depicted as a coach who plays attractive football, but never wins a trophy. By now, it can be concluded that Bosz has been rid of that label.

Opposite the camera of VoetbalPrimeur, Bosz last Wednesday, after the presentation of the Rinus Michels Award, which this time went to NEC coach Dick Schreuder, reacted about his style of play. ''People all said things like kamikaze football and that you would never win anything with this way. For those people I don't do it'', the coach said to VP.

Despite the fact that Bosz speaks of wanting to win prizes, entertaining the crowd is at the top of his priorities. ''I just try to entertain people, just like at Heracles and Vitesse. That comes first for me. Yes, I want to win, but you try to combine those things. I'm glad that you're now showing with this attacking football that you can win trophies,'' the coach concludes.

Im with the article on this one: the fullbacks were the difference. If PSV can keep getting crosses in early, and not wait for the perfect moment, that is how you break the block. 🥇

"controlled" build-up is good until the final third goes stale. When Simons drops deep, someone has to run in behind, otherwise its just passing practice 🤡

Tell me why the winger keeps drifting inside instead of stretching the pitch... defenders love that. We need width, or it turns into the same predictable attacks 😅

Midfield looked a bit shaky in that setup ngl. Hope Sambo and Veerman rotate smarter, because against faster transitions we will pay 💀⚽

Quote from the article about keeping the buildup "controlled" is fair, but i think we still overplay at times. Van Nistelrooij needs to trust the direct balls, especially when the fullback is stuck high.

🔥 that mention of the crowd energy is spot on. When PSV move the ball quicker through the lines, it turns into a proper banger for the whole stadium. Lets see if they can keep that intensity for 90' 🚀

"Inside" tactics shouldnt mean chaos in possession. If they want goals, they need more direct runs from the half-spaces, not just side-to-side passing. Otherwise Utrecht- and Ajax-type counters will punish them fast 💀

If PSV go again with that high press, i can see it unlocking teams. But only if the midfield actually keeps the shape, dont leave space for the first pass.

If PSV are really pushing that high press in the article, im worried it will leave huge space behind the fullbacks. Gakpo on the wing is exciting though, but only if the midfield actually covers.
