Amateur club Sven Mijnans targets PSV

Sven Mijnans has been able to officially call himself a PSV player since last Monday. The transfer had gained momentum since the weekend and, in the end, Mijnans was officially presented by PSV on Monday.

The midfielder has signed a contract until mid-2031 and has joined for thirteen million euros from AZ. At VV Spijkenisse, the former amateur club of the newly minted PSV player, they are rubbing their hands with excitement over the transfer of their former youth player.

This has to do with the fact that the amateur club will also receive a portion of the transfer fee. ''And we are of course also happy about it because we will get a bit of something pushed our way as well,'' says chairman Arno de Man to the Algemeen Dagblad.

VV Spijkenisse can receive an amount of approximately 260,000 euros through the transfer of Mijnans. ''But we are not going to start counting our chickens before they hatch. We are a very down-to-earth club and we will first think carefully about what we are going to do with that money,'' the chairman says about it.

In this context, De Man also refers to the transfer of current PSV captain Jerdy Schouten to Bologna in 2019. ''With Bologna, we experienced that it took us a year to get the money from Schouten phased in at all, and that is not done yet. We have to be careful with that,'' he says.

Nevertheless, the chairman does not expect any problems with PSV regarding the payment. ''We also received a small amount from AZ for Mijnans. That has never been an issue—everything has been paid properly and all at once. We expect PSV to be a decent club as well, and we have every confidence in terms of a proper settlement,'' concludes De Man.
