Update on the asking price for Ismael Saibari: PSV aims for an unprecedented high transfer fee
1 min readIt has every appearance that Peter Bosz is not far off with his estimated asking price for Ismael Saibari, when the Moroccan midfielder and international was last sitting next to him in the press room of the Philips Stadium
That meant it was not a regular press conference, after the home match against FC Utrecht because Saibari not only fired PSV toward the league title but also heard from Bosz that at PSV they actually think about a transfer fee of around 60 to 75 million euros. At least, those were Bosz's words. Saibari nearly got startled by it, but with a smile he accepted the compliments.
Still, everything suggests that next summer the departure of the bill could very well exceed 50 million euros by a wide margin. If Paris Saint-Germain starts shaking the money bag and Saibari hits the mark once or twice for Morocco at the World Cup, PSV will see the cash register start ringing.
The Eindhoven Dagblad seems to believe that as well, because the regional paper has provided clarity on the asking prices that PSV sets for Ismael Saibari, but also for those of Joey Veerman. PSV thinks next week's paper that it is 'a record sum' for the Moroccan international, which would mean an amount of more than fifty million euros.

Saibari is overall viewed as the player with the most goals and assists over the past season, putting a record transfer within reach. According to Eindhovens Dagblad, 'first and foremost a transfer record is being considered'. That would amount to a transfer fee of more than fifty million euros, but perhaps the transfer fee will be closer to the amount Bosz previously listed; 60 to 75 million euros including bonuses.

I get it because Saibari had goals and assists, but 75 million feels like a lot. Also if the price keeps climbing, we better be ready to replace Veerman and still keep the balance in midfield.
Bosz saying 60 to 75 million for Saibari makes me think PSV are done selling on the cheap. If PSG actually calls, this could be the summer they set a new record for real.
I like the ambition, but I worry PSV will price themselves out. If PSG really comes in, sure, but otherwise that asking price feels like a trap.
Veerman and Saibari both being called
60 to 75 million for Saibari? That sounds wild, but if he keeps delivering goals and assists like last season, I can see why PSV would gamble on a record fee.
If Bosz actually said 60 to 75 million, that is a proper statement. Saibari does have that rare mix of goals and assists, but I still hope PSV is not just dreaming and pricing him out of his own value.
