1 min readArmando Obispo seemed on his way to trade PSV for RC Lens, but at the very last moment this transfer fell through, meaning Obispo will once again join PSV's squad on the training camp in Germany. In an interview with Eindhovens Dagblad, technical director Earnest Stewart responded for the first time to the aborted transfer.
PSV and RC Lens had themselves reached an agreement just last Thursday regarding a transfer fee of 5.5 million euros. Earlier, PSV had not agreed to other offers, and eventually the French side gave in anyway, meaning PSV accepted the amount.
Despite this, Obispo himself did not reach an agreement with the French number 2 from last season. As a result, the defender will remain active for PSV for the time being.
''We had a telephone conversation. To switch the button as soon as possible, is according to us the best option. He will report to the group again on Tuesday'', says Stewart about the defender to the ED.
PSV is currently in Germany on a training camp that runs until Friday 24 July. After that, Peter Bosz's squad will return to the Netherlands for the PSV FAN Day of next Saturday.

Naah, this is peak PSV handling. Close the deal with the club, then move to the player-side and if it doesnt click, just reset immediately. Tuesday return is nice, get him back into shape before PSV Fan Day.
5.5 million for a defender and then no agreement with the player... that smells like wages/role stuff. Imo Bosz needs him sharp, because rotation will be intense this preseason. 🔥
If Lens thought they had it done, PSV played hardball with the other offers and still kept the player. Stewart saying he will join the group Tuesday feels like a calm message for the dressing room.

Good thing they switched the button fast, 5.5m was tempting but tbh keeping Obispo is still a solid option at CB. Hope he is 100% focused now.
