PSV player receives praise from Hiddink and Sneijder: “He’s super.”
1 min readThis season, Mauro Junior is one of the most important links in Peter Bosz’s setup. Thanks in part to the fact that he can play in multiple positions, the Brazilian has been a major asset to PSV for some time now.
That is also what former footballer and today analyst for Ziggo Sport, Wesley Sneijder, said. ''Mauro is the director in midfield, he is so important this season. At one point he was so brilliant'', Sneijder said last Monday in Rondo on Ziggo Sport, where PSV coach Peter Bosz was a guest.
This season, the Brazilian was at the start a stronghold in midfield, but partly because the fact that Salah-Eddine eventually suffered from an injury led Mauro to be moved back to left back, where he also played good matches. Former PSV success coach Guus Hiddink is also impressed by the versatile Mauro.
Moreover, the born Varssevelder believes that Mauro can still grow. ''Mauro can still become even better. He’s super. He’s so important,'' said Hiddink.

Under Roger Schmidt, Mauro even played as a right-back towards the end of the 2021/2022 season, and according to Hiddink it's also somewhat a disadvantage that the Brazilian can play in multiple positions. ''It's a shame that he can play in multiple positions, because I would like to see him in midfield'', the former coach is clear.
