More news about major expansion of Philips Stadium, PSV chooses a construction partner
1 min readA few months ago, PSV announced that the plans for expanding the Philips Stadium have been approved. The intention is to start next calendar year with the expansion of the site where it all began in 1913.
The goal is for at least 55,000 spectators to be able to enter the renovated stadium. To make these plans possible, PSV is partnering with the construction company BMV from Veldhoven.
BMV already produced the drawings showing roughly what the stadium should look like after the renovation. PSV has committed itself to the Eindhoven construction company for at least ten years.
''That underlines the trust and the shared ambition to create something lasting'', says stadium director Sjors van den Boogaart to Omroep Brabant.
Commercial Director Frans Janssen also has his say about the collaboration with BMV. ''This collaboration is not only an important deal for us. But actually for all of Eindhoven and the surrounding area. The renovation of the Philips Stadium is, due to its location, a complex project,'' Janssen said.

Tijdlijn zegt komend kalenderjaar beginnen, oké. Minimaal 10 jaar vastleggen aan BMV is wel een goed teken, maar ik wil vooral garanties over doorlooptijd en kosten. Smh als het weer een zooitje wordt.
Beter dan steeds praten en niks doen. 🚀 Zolang de doorstroming en bereikbaarheid op niveau blijven, en het geen stadion wordt waar je overal net buiten zicht zit.
Ik snap de ambitie, maar "minimaal 55.000" klinkt nog altijd alsof er marge is. Als je toch bouwt, ga dan voor een helder einddoel, niet een ondergrens.
"Dat onderstreept het vertrouwen en de gezamenlijke ambitie om iets blijvends neer te zetten" vind ik mooi. Maar ik hoop dat dat vertrouwen ook in het veld terugkomt, meer capaciteit en meer energie op wedstrijddagen. 👀
Benieuwd hoe ze dat ingewikkelde project gaan aanpakken door de ligging. Als ze daar opnieuw gedoe krijgen met planning dan wordt het geduld weer op de proef gesteld.
55.000+ is gewoon wát we willen, eindelijk die schaal passend bij PSV. BMV uit Veldhoven klinkt logisch, kort lijntje en Hopelijk geen vertraging. 🚀⚽
55.000 man minimaal, eindelijk. 👀 Als BMV het al uittekende en PSV zich voor 10 jaar vastlegt dan moet het echt kloppen, anders was dit wel risico-vol geweest.
