Also Salah-Eddine looks forward to a possible clash with the Netherlands: “That would be a wonderful game.”
1 min readAnass Salah-Eddine and Ismael Saibari managed to qualify on Thursday night Dutch time for the next round after a 4-2 victory over Haiti. Morocco finished second in Group C since Brazil won at the same time 0-3 against Scotland and, thanks to a better goal difference, finished above Morocco.
As a result, Morocco may be set for a meeting with the Netherlands national team in the next round. Only if the Netherlands finishes first in Group F will both countries meet in the upcoming match.
Anass Salah-Eddine, who will leave PSV and return to AS Roma, is looking forward at least to a possible meeting between the Netherlands and Morocco. ''That would be a great match, of course,'' says the left-back to NOS after the match against Haiti.
Especially the reunion with a few friends from the Netherlands national team is a reason for the defender to play a match against Oranje. ''I then play against my best friends, so that will be great fun'', said Salah-Eddine.

The departing PSV player has a lot of respect for the Netherlands despite the fact that he plays for Morocco. ''The Netherlands is a great team, but I think the same about us. We are going to prepare well and I’m really looking forward to it if the Netherlands wins. I really enjoy playing against the Netherlands. I’m going to wish those guys a lot of success and if we have to play against them, I’ll definitely give them a quick call,'' concludes the left-back.

Im not convinced by the backline being so high. One slip in the build-up and youre suddenly defending direct balls all night. Make it smarter, not bigger. ⚽
As an outsider looking in, PSV's best moments seem to come when the fullbacks overlap and the winger tucks in late. If they play too safe, it becomes predictable fast. 💯
Bruna gave the ball away too much last time, and it shows in the tempo. Still, if Lozano starts looking for the first man, we can cook. 🔥
"tbh i think our pressing starts from the front" yeah, but it also starts with duels in midfield. If that part isnt coordinated, the whole quote falls apart in practice. 🤬
Tbh i dont fully trust the balance when the fullbacks push up. You can see the gap behind them, and the opposition will punish that, especially if they play quick in transition. Maybe the coaching staff needs to tweak the rest-defence a bit 👀
Gakpo on the left again? i get the idea, but when he drifts inside too early it leaves space for their fullback. We need more support runs from the 8 or its gonna feel like attack vs nothing.
If PSV really wants to press higher, the midfield has to hold its shape. Otherwise the transitions will kill them, and Utrecht-style counters will be a problem. 👀
If PSV keeps playing like this, Baumgartl at the back needs to be sharper with his first touch. Right now it feels like every counter-attack starts with someone taking one too many seconds. Still, the pressing in midfield looked 🔥.
