Cup winner AZ must make do in the 2026/2027 season without Sven Mijnans. Mijnans has been an official PSV player since last week and already made his first unofficial minutes in the PSV shirt last weekend.

Also striker Mexx Meerdink addresses the departure of Mijnans. ''I had sent him a message that I’m going to miss him as a player. But especially as a person, because I had a lot of use for him. We talk a lot with each other about everything and anything. The most important thing was that he always helped me on the pitch,'' Meerdink tells about the newly signed PSV player.

Nevertheless, the striker realizes that AZ is not only dependent on Mijnans. ''We stand with eleven on the pitch. Ultimately, age should not make a difference there and everyone should stand up for that. We are going to work on that, because we need everyone hard. So in the end, two can step up, but I think the whole team should stand behind that'', said Meerdink.
