Fans of FC Twente are urging PSV on, but expect a transfer fee of 10 million plus.
1 min readPSV is being linked to FC Twente standout Mats Rots, although the rumors seem to be coming mainly from the eastern part of the country. Some FC Twente watchers report that PSV has an interest in Mats Rots, but whether the rumors should be taken very seriously, we doubt.
According to the Eindhovens Dagblad, the interest should not be taken very seriously right away. The regional newspaper reports that PSV has still not held talks with the twenty-year-old defender of the Tukkers about a possible transfer. The rumors about PSV’s interest in Rots mainly come over from Enschede, but the Eindhovens Dagblad reports that, if there had been any discussion, contact would first have been made with Earnest Stewart, but that is not the case.
Multiple sources confirm to Eindhovens Dagblad that there has been no contact between Rots and PSV. In the rumor circuit, it was said that Peter Bosz and the FC Twente defender would have spoken with each other, but the newspaper says that is not true. First, it would need to be communicated from Stewart, before a conversation with Peter Bosz could take place. The twenty-year-old went through his breakthrough season at FC Twente and this season played 35 matches for the club, in which he started in all duels. His contract in Enschede runs until mid-2027 and, according to Transfermarkt, he has a market value of ten million euros. That amount can be called on the high side.
At FC Twente, Rots is seen together with Ruud Nijstad as a major talent, which means PSV may have to open its wallet to also secure the left wing-back. Moreover, this is not the first time the name of Rots has come up in connection with PSV.

Fans of the club from Enschede have been getting down to business with PSV over their favorite club, but at the same time there is a clear message that they should put at least 10 million euros on the table for Rots. FC Twente fans are also stirring on X about a possible future resale percentage for Rots. 'At least 10 million euros, PSV has plenty of money,' a fan of FC Twente thinks.

Contract until mid-2027 plus 35 games and starting every duel, that's the kind of profile you pay for. But I wouldn't panic-buy at 10m plus unless PSV confirms the target fits the left-back defensive system.
If PSV hasn't even had conversations yet, then this whole thing is just Twitter noise right now. The part about Earnest Stewart needing to be contacted first makes me think nothing is happening behind the scenes yet.
PSV and rumours about Rots... here we go again. I would rather see PSV focus on players they can actually sign, not something that pops up on X. If Twente wants at least 10m plus, that tells me PSV will need to decide how badly they want that left wing-back solution.
I get the Enschede fans pushing for
Twente fans saying
I actually like Mats Rots, he looks so solid in that left-sided defensive role. But paying ten million or more when there has been no confirmed contact is risky, especially when PSV can probably get good deals elsewhere. If he is truly worth it, then let PSV prove it with a serious bid and a clear plan.
I get the excitement, but PSV should not rush for a rumour. The fact that Stewart was not contacted first is a big detail, it suggests there is no real plan yet. If Bosz is not talking directly, then it is probably just agent talk.
10 million for Mats Rots sounds like a lot, but if he is really a key defender and always starts like they say, PSV won't be buying a rotation piece. Still, I hope Bosz is looking at actual needs, not just reacting to Twente hype.
10 million plus for Rots feels a bit optimistic. If PSV has not even spoken to him, the price tag is basically hype from Enschede. Still, a 2027 contract and 35 games this season do make him a real target.
