1 min readFor PSV, at least eight matches in the main tournament of the UEFA Champions League are also on the schedule for next season. In total, since the 2024/2025 season, 36 clubs will take part and each club will play against eight different opponents.
The bulk of the participating teams for the coming season are already known, and PSV, together with Feyenoord, has the task of representing the Netherlands on the highest European stage. Thanks in part to the change in the format, PSV is able to face every club in Europe.
Last season, Peter Bosz’s team had a very difficult draw that included, among others, Napoli, Liverpool FC, Atletico Madrid, Newcastle United and FC Bayern München. Of the clubs mentioned, Napoli, Atletico Madrid and FC Bayern will also be playing in the billion-dollar league next season.
The preliminary round of the Champions League, in which NEC will represent the Netherlands, ends on 26 August after which the draw will take place on 27 August. The first matchday is scheduled for 8, 9 and 10 September 2026.
At this moment PSV can face the following clubs: Aston Villa, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Internazionale, Napoli, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Villarreal, Atlético Madrid, Real Betis, FC Bayern München, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, VfB Stuttgart, Paris Saint-Germain, RC Lens, LOSC Lille, FC Porto, Club Brugge, Slavia Prague, Galatasaray and Shakhtar Donetsk

Can we talk about that list? Aston Villa, Arsenal, Man City, Inter, Barcelona, Real Madrid... thats not a draw, thats a nightmare. Also note: first round 8-10 September, so pre-season better be peak, otherwise we get punished fast 🔥
I like that the new format means we can meet every club in Europe, but still... seeing Liverpool and Napoli in the same story already feels like a nightmare. Hopefully we avoid Bayern again, they always punish transitions.
Eight different opponents, so the bracket luck will matter even more. If we end up with Man City or Real Madrid again after last season, I swear itll be rough lol.
PSV vs Napoli, Atletico, Bayern again... that would feel like déjà vu. But honestly, meeting the best early might be good for momentum. Lets just hope the group format stays fair for once 😅
"Afgelopen seizoen kende PSV een zeer zware loting" oké, maar dan is het nu wel tijd om die stap te zetten. Met 8 verschillende tegenstanders kunnen ze echt groeien, zolang ze thuis niet in paniek raken. 🙄💯
iets te veel topclubs op die set, tbh. Aston Villa en Dortmund lijken nog net haalbaarder, maar Real of City in dezelfde groep zou echt een mentale klap zijn. ngl, ik wil liever geen herhaling van Bayern-ellende.
Eight different opponents in the main draw is wild. If we land City or Real plus one of the big Serie A clubs, that is instant pressure. Still, Peter Bosz deserves it for building a squad that can go toe-to-toe.
Minimaal acht wedstrijden is echt lekker, maar die lijst met mogelijke tegenstanders is ook scary. Napoli, Bayern, Madrid... als we daarvan 2-3 hebben, moet Bosz meteen pieken. 👀⚽
