Journalist points to PSV after contract extension: transfer target
1 min readIn recent months, defender Ruud Nijstad of FC Twente has often been linked with a transfer to PSV, just like left-back Mats Rots. After all, the latter is leaving for sixteen million euros to the German TSG Hoffenheim, and the Tukkers have once again beaten PSV by extending Nijstad's contract.
Despite interest from PSV and various clubs from abroad, the defender himself pushed the club management to extend his contract in Enschede. According to journalist Tom Knipping of Voetbal International, it’s a good thing that the defender will be seen for longer in the Grolsch Veste.
This writes Knipping in VI, where the journalist is also complimentary toward Erik ten Hag. ''The new technical director in Enschede, Erik ten Hag, has started his first window with promising moves. With sixteen million for Mats Rots, FC Twente closed an excellent deal with Hoffenheim'', begins Knipping.
Afterwards, the journalist goes into the fact that the club from Enschede managed to prevent PSV from possibly getting its hands on Nijstad. “Even better was that the top-six contender used part of the money to keep the young centre-back Ruud Nijstad, meaning it is not a given that every top talent is immediately bought up by top clubs.”

According to Knipping, it is a good thing for the Eredivisie that the top clubs are no longer able to take players of this kind for next to nothing from the mid-table clubs. ''Good for FC Twente, but also good for the competition dominated by PSV'', said the journalist.

16 miljoen voor Mats Rots en dan ook Ruud Nijstad verlengen... Twente heeft gewoon lef. Ik snap PSV, maar als je dit soort deals niet kan winnen, moet je elders bouwen.
