NewsFirst opponent in preseason preparations for PSV known
1 min readThe 2026 World Cup is still in full swing, but PSV started preparing for the 2026/2027 season earlier this week without the World Cup participants. Peter Bosz’s squad trained for the first time last Monday and is now gearing up for a series of friendly matches.
Next Saturday, PSV will take on Royal Antwerp FC behind closed doors, where PSV icon Mark van Bommel was still in charge as coach a number of seasons ago. On Saturday 11 July, PSV will also play a friendly match against the Polish Rakow Czestochowa, and on Saturday 18 July, PSV will face an opponent that has yet to be announced.
The match between PSV and Royal Antwerp FC starts on Saturday at 11 o'clock and, just like the entire pre-season, can be watched live on PSV Play.

Antwerp achter gesloten op 11 juli is precies het soort wedstrijd waar je ziet waar PSV nog hapert. Of we nu echt sneller worden in de omschakeling of dat het nog te veel rondgaat in de duels... tbh ik hoop op echte stappen. 👀⚽
Raar maar leuk, vroeg beginnen zonder de WK-gangers en dan meteen Antwerp. Bosz zal wel vooral conditioneel testen en automatismen in de opbouw zoeken. Van Bommel als tegenstander-goed geheugen voor ons, benieuwd wie het spel gaat bepalen.
Rakow Czestochowa op 11 juli klinkt als een goeie wedstrijddrempel voor PSV. Tegen Polen ga je zien hoe ze omgaan met tempo en press na balverlies. Als ze daar weer te rustig zijn, wordt het lastig.
Antwerp achter gesloten, dat is toch slim om te testen met nieuwe automatismen. Van Bommel is daar nog steeds een soort randfactor, benieuwd of Bosz daarop inspeelt. 🔥
