Tygo Land doesn’t get a place at PSV: the loan deal will be concluded next week

FC Groningen may also be able to call on Tygo Land next season. According to the X account WFCGroningen, the loan transfer of the 20-year-old midfielder has now been fully completed. It is expected that the Pride of the North will officially confirm the deal at the beginning of next week.

That provides clarity about Land's future, who was also active on a loan basis last season at the Euroborg. Earlier, it was already announced that both clubs had reached a preliminary agreement, after which the final formalities were handled in the past few days.

At PSV, competition in midfield is fierce, meaning a permanent spot in the first team is not yet within reach. The Eindhoven club therefore considers a new season with many minutes at Eredivisie level more valuable than a role as a substitute at the Philips Stadium.

For FC Groningen, it is good news that Land will remain. Coach Dick Lukkien previously made no secret of his desire to keep the midfielder at the club for longer. The manager saw Land develop strongly last season and was impressed by his contribution in the second half of the season.

Now that multiple mercenaries have left Groningen this summer, work is underway on a new boost for the squad. Among other things, the club management wants to add extra creativity to the team and sees Land as a player who can play an important role in that.

Although the midfielder will play his matches in Groningen again, PSV remains his employer. As far as is known, the agreement does not include a mandatory option to buy or other binding clauses. Both the player and both clubs were positive from the start about a new spell in the north, which is why the negotiations went relatively smoothly.

With the arrival of Land, FC Groningen has almost secured its first signing for the new season and will get Lukkien back a player who already knows the club and playing style well.
