“Who kicks a ball hard out of Argentina’s dugout into?” | Valentijn Driessen hits hard: “Even worse than Argentina”

1 min read

Football-loving Netherlands seems to have so much less to do with Lionel Messi these days. The shy and sometimes even covertly watching Argentine star has won over many Dutch football fans. That has, of course, everything to do with making Louis van Gaal look like a fool in Qatar in 2022 after the Netherlands - Argentina match.

Before the match, Van Gaal only said that he developed a game plan to stop Messi, nothing more and nothing less. Van Gaal only said that Messi also regularly walks around during the match, which is also true and not a word was misrepresented. As a final blow, an Argentinian even thought he could shoot the ball into the dugout of the Dutch national team. A disgrace, right down to the referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz, who by no means acted.

In our view, this World Cup will only be considered a success if, during the semi-final or the final Netherlands - Argentina, a ball from the playing field by whichever player of the Netherlands national team, is kicked hard into Argentina’s dugout. Who? Most preferably Guus Til. That’s as far as any musing about the ongoing World Cup goes, which in any case is over for neighboring country Argentina’s Uruguay. This for the pleasure of Valentijn Driessen.

Valentijn Driessen is even and, according to his own words, “overjoyed” that Uruguay has been eliminated from the World Cup. According to the journalist from De Telegraaf, the Uruguayans are only “a bunch of butchers,” he says in the podcast Kick-Off.

For Uruguay, the curtain fell on Friday after a 0-1 defeat against Spain. The South American country drew against Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia, which means Uruguay has become third in the group with two points. The big surprise came from Cape Verde, which qualified for the knockout stage as second with three draws.

The attention against Spain was mainly directed at goalkeeper Fernando Muslera. The keeper went in the mist for the 0-1 and was subsequently substituted at halftime. According to Driessen, the goalkeeper had no business at the World Cup at all. "This man could have done this better before the tournament. This entire tournament he plays badly. I always thought he was an average goalkeeper; you can't rely on him. Wherever he plays, he makes enormous blunders from time to time. He also sometimes went at it on the pitch, that made no sense", Driessen is clearly clear.

"I’m so overjoyed that those Uruguayans are going home. Because they’re just a bunch of butchers. They’re even worse than Argentina. They can go home too, if you ask me. They’re playing now against the big surprise Cape Verde."

Peak sportiviteit, NOT. 🤡

Matige keeper?
