That’s how Peter Bosz responded in the press room at the Grolsch Veste after a question about the behavior of Wout Weghorst

1 min read

Peter Bosz didn't even feel like answering questions about Wout Weghorst and his conduct. The man from Twente went off.

The Tukker really went at it. For the match in the warm-up, after the match, during the match and even in the break. Peter Bosz, however, wouldn’t say anything about it. Knowing Bosz, he would have been extremely bothered by Wout Weghorst, but the coach from Apeldoorn kept his lips tightly pressed together after a question from Telegraaf journalist Kapteijns.

PSV lost on Sunday afternoon 3-2 to FC Twente and the central striker had played an important part in the match with a goal. After the match, Bosz kept it brief when he was asked about the exuberant attacker, who pulled out all the stops to be able to express his emotions.

"I’m not going to say anything about that. I’m being sensible now", Bosz said in fairly clear words about Twente’s striker. PSV watcher Kapteijns also hinted between the lines that he is not a fan of the Tukkers’ behavior.

It is not necessarily the case that Kapteijns is an opponent of Weghorst, but the journalist from De Telegraaf did take a swipe at the long Twent, who in turn also behaved in a conspicuously noticeable way at the start of the second half in Enschede.

It soon became clear on Sunday afternoon after the end of FC Twente - PSV that not everyone is waiting for Weghorst’s behavior, but it also became clear that the Tukker still has plenty of sympathizers to fall back on. Weghorst is unique, Weghorst is himself and Weghorst is an emotional personality. Yet the Tukker also evokes a lot of resistance, as does journalist Jeroen Kapteijns of De Telegraaf.

If you like, you can take a look at the images of Wout Weghorst just before the start of the second half of FC Twente - PSV. In fact, Weghorst is fanned and burned by the journalist from De Telegraaf, who has already on several occasions made clear that he has little interest in the sometimes debatable behavior of Weghorst.

"Why is a journalist not allowed to air his or her opinion?" Exactly. If it is bizarre footage, show it and judge it. Weghorst needs to keep it clean, otherwise every PSV match becomes a debate about his behaviour instead of the tactics.

That quote about "not necessary, Jeroen" is spot on. Some guys turn normal moments into drama, and PSV fans end up paying for it. We need discipline, not extra attention 💀

As a PSV fan, i agree the journalist is allowed to have an opinion. If the clip is showing misconduct or theatrics, call it out. The question is whether PSV responds on the pitch instead of letting it distract them. 💀

Weghorst loves the spotlight, but sometimes it comes off as mid and petulant. I just hope PSV players dont match that energy, because it ruins the focus for 90 minutes. 👀

"Why is a journalist not allowed to air his or her opinion?" Exactly. People complain when criticism comes, but if the images show questionable behaviour then speak up. Weghorst should know better if he wants to be taken seriously.

Kapteijns was right to question it, because that footage tells more than the usual "misunderstanding" excuses. PSV might be better when we play calm, not when someone keeps trying to get attention.

If you have to call it out, do it on the pitch. But the way Weghorst acted off the ball was pure circus, ngl. I know Twente fans will eat this up, but there was no need for it.

This is surely not necessary, Jeroen... tbh i dont get why some people still defend it. Weghorst is talented but those moments make him look like hes searching for attention, and then it turns into noise instead of the game. 👀

Lol i knew this would be about Weghorst. If it happened like the footage suggests, you cant blame Kapteijns for calling it out, public spotlight or not. The only thing PSV should be doing is playing football, not stirring drama.
