Van Bronckhorst responds in his characteristic way after Geertruida’s transfer to PSV, and he is open about why Feyenoord pulled out.

South Rotterdam has been in an uproar over the past few days. The fans of the club from South Rotterdam are boiling with rage and, at the same time, extremely disappointed with the way things have unfolded regarding the transfer of Geertruida to PSV.

It annoys the average Feyenoord fan greatly what has been going on over the past few days regarding the transfer to PSV, which has also secured a purchase option of 'only' thirteen million euros from the Sparta and Feyenoord-formed defender. Fans of Feyenoord are beside themselves in every way, but coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst is moving, as it should, into calmer waters.

Van Bronckhorst was asked on Friday afternoon for a reaction. The head coach of the Rotterdam club therefore responded in a very characteristic way to the transfer of Lutsharel Geertruida to PSV. In the case of Van Bronckhorst, that means a reaction was given in all calm, with a great deal of civility and understanding.

The defender who broke through at Feyenoord caused a great deal of commotion in Rotterdam with his choice to go and play for PSV, but the Feyenoord coach has a lot of understanding for his decision. Feyenoord also made an attempt, but had to stop it soon for financial reasons.

'Well, first of all I wish him a lot of success,' Van Bronckhorst said during the press conference ahead of the competitive match with Cambuur Leeuwarden. 'I gave him his debut and he is a player who has made major next steps in his career,' it sounds from De Kuip.

'I understand the commotion, because he is a Feyenoord player. We also had contact with him, but the reality is that we are centrally set up at the back and we need to let players go. And financially he is not feasible for Feyenoord, that's it. I think we also shouldn't say too much about that, no more than that I personally wish him a lot of success', said the Feyenoord coach.

"We have to be brave in duels" sounds great, but I need to see that in the first 15 minutes, not only after going behind. 👀 Also, switching play earlier could solve the pressure before it becomes a problem.

Goal!! i just hope PSV doesnt get too comfortable leading by narrow margins. Keep the tempo, but dont switch off after 60 minutes. Thats when the boring stuff starts and the points wobble 💀

"We can press higher" sounds good, but it depends who wins the second ball. If PSV doesnt, the back line gets exposed and suddenly it feels like suicide. Bring the trigger presses, but keep the cover, please 👀

That midfield balance talk is interesting, but i think they need more protection in transition. If Veerman drops too deep, it leaves space for the runner behind the fullback. tbh thats where teams hurt PSV most 🤡

If PSV really went with that high press in the article, it makes sense. But i swear Berghuis has to be braver with the ball, otherwise they get bypassed way too easily. Still, the intensity looked tasty 🔥⚽

Where is the creativity in the final third? If our wingbacks dont overlap with intent, we end up recycling possession and it gets predictable fast. ngl it felt a bit mid at times.

That PSV midfield control is nice, but if they slow the tempo too much again then opponents will just press them into mistakes. 🫣 Warming up for a harder second-half would be better than playing safe early.
