The transfer carousel seemed to be coming late into gear this summer at PSV. In early July, Sven Mijnans was taken over from AZ and then it seemed to stay quiet for a longer time in Eindhoven.
Over the past few weeks, change has taken place and, among others, Kodai Sano, Filip Kostić, and Lutsharel Geertruida (on a loan basis) have been brought to PSV. Over the coming days, more players will be presented.

Liam, you said it was about winning duels, but then the defending looked shaky near the box. We can be brave in possession, but the spacing has to be tighter. Otherwise its fun until its 2-1 against you.

🔥 That chance creation looked like peak PSV. Cody Gakpo still has the movement to find pockets, and the timing with the runs is what makes it click. Still, we cant waste those first-time setups if we want the big wins.
Tbh im not convinced by the full-back positioning. The article mentions the build-up was more direct, but i saw the wide areas get isolated too easily. We need the winger to drop or the FB to stay narrower.
I get the idea behind the PSV build-up described, but im not convinced about the fullback staying so high. When the ball gets switched, that space in behind becomes too easy for the counter. 🙄
If PSV really went for that high press, i love it. But does it leave Xav Simons too exposed on transitions? Need that midfield to cover, otherwise itll get punished.
